Getting more Steem Power from your post is possible

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

This post is not about bots or any other services that will take your Steem/SBD in return for a higher payout. How is this possible is what we are going to show in this post.

The known facts

We know that there is only 3 payout methods on Steemit. Default (50%/50%), Power Up (100%) and Decline Payout. These are the 3 options that we can currently create a post but there are more options which are available that allow us to choose a different payout option.

But before going into these options, we are going to see the limitation of the Default (50%/50%) option especially during this period where the price of 1 SBD exceeds by far the value of 1 STEEM.

The current problem that you don't know

When we choose the power up option and the default option, after 7 days we obviously get our payout. Now, taking some examples, here is the current situation in different scenarios. 7 days ago, I got a payout for this below post as 14.70 SBD.

So far so good. For this post, I had chosen the default payout and hence half was converted automatically to Steem Power and we could see that I got 7.346 SBD and 2.622 Steem Power.

I had a little SBD and I converted 7.416 SBD to Steem which I got 26.856 Steem. The conversion rate of SBD to Steem was really good last week as everyone would have witnessed.

If we think about it, with the default conversion, Steemit used 7.354 SBD to give me 2.622 Steem Power. On the market, I converted 7.416 SBD to 26.856 Steem which if I power up gave me 26.856 Steem Power. With the default payout, I lost around 24 Steem Power!!!

How to counter the situation

I have been thinking about this for one week and I finally found a way to go around this situation. There is a service/ website that everyone know and it is called Streemian. This website offers many services but I am going to talk about a specific feature here.

Under the services section, there is an option where we can create "Scheduled Posts". Many has probably been using it but there is a hidden feature that many may not be aware of.

We can write posts to be scheduled on Steemit by using the Streemian service. But below the post creation, there is an advanced option section.

If we click on it, we can see that there is the option to see the percentage of SBD that we want to receive after the post pays out.

If we set it to 100%, we will get all our reward in SBD which we can exchange for more Steem on the market and eventually get more Steem Power from our post than is currently possible by the Steemit website.

For how long would it be valid?

For all I know, till the price of SBD will be higher than the value of Steem, posting using the Streemian service is more beneficial. Once the price of Steem becomes higher than SBD, the increase value of Steem Power that we get is unknown. When this happens again in the future, I will test it but if anyone has already done this test, they can share their results in the comment section below.

Conclusion

I have written this post using the Streemian service and this is my first time doing this. I wanted to test it out before posting the results but I don't know for how long more the value of SBD will be higher than that of Steem.

Im back over time again and this is for some new person like me so nice to know .Thanks for this great informations :) Re and follow. Nice work go on with it ! :)

This is a really great tip! I am looking forward to read about the result. In the mean time I think I will test this for myself :)

Yes I will be posting the result next week.

Awesome! quick question, do you post the html code in the textbox on streemit? I can't get a preview of the article when I did that.

After writing your post in Steemit, you click on the raw html and copy everything.

In the preview of Streemian website, images are not displayed but the post came out fine after it post it on Steemit.

Ok great thank you

thanks for this, i guess i will try this features you said, nice and strong

Give a try and let us know how it goes :)

Hmm. Very nice discovery. I might have to try it out for myself.

Do try it out and let us know the results :)

So if I understood correctly, you suggest we use a 100% payout in sbd?

Yes this is what is possible on the Steemian website.

What the hay... that looks unreal! I thought there was no such setting, but this would be very interesting if it worked! I'm going to do some digging to see how this is possible, because I thought it wasn't from my reading of the steem code. I would be doing this immediately if I saw it and suggesting the same to others. (In the current regime of SBD/STEEM market prices)

It's not going to work. 100% actually means 50%:
https://github.com/steemit/steem/blob/57451b80d2cf480dcce9b399e48e56aa7af1d818/libraries/chain/database.cpp#L1557

That percentage allows you to slide towards more STEEM. But it won't print out more SBD for you.

Yes, I have tried Streemian a while ago, but it didn't work.. I scheduled a post today, but it didn't appear in my Steemit blogs. 😞

The time it used is CET. Do check the time in CET if it is the time that you set. If you login to Streemian, you will still see your post there if it hasn't posted yet and you can edit and check the date and time properly.

Oh yes..my post already appeared in my blogs.. Thanks for this. I will wait next week if I will get full sbd.. I am hoping.. Thanks again @pisolutionsmru.

I wrote this post using this feature for the first time.

I have seen Steemians getting all reward in SBD and maybe they used the Streemian service.

I don't know how it works yet. I used this post itself as the test and wanted others to try it out while SBD is still higher than Steem.

Do you have an example of such a post? I'd be curious to investigate the payout of the post. I will reach out in chat.

You can reach me out on Discord or Steem Chat. Same username :)

Oh. One other thing. It's a little backwards: Your STEEM payout is the one that is fixed, and the amount displayed is based on the STEEM-USD price feed. So you aren't actually getting cheated, everything was originally in terms of STEEM and converted to the other tokens on payout.

But in this case, why when we check the payout on our post it shows the SBD value?

I don't know the full working on Steem and I perhaps need to make more research on the subject.

Because USD is more relatable. Of course, right now it's a bit funny: it pays you in SBD at a 1 SBD = 1 USD rate, so your payout is actually higher in market value terms...

WOW. I had no idea about this! This is great!!! Im going to try it. Have you done it and it works?

This is the post I am using to test this.

I have seen Steemians using it and they get all the payout as SBD which is awesome :)

Nice. Ill try it too
Can you do it with posts that you have already posted?

Unfortunately no.

Once the payout method has been set, there is no way to change it.

So you gotta write the post in the site?

Yes you have to write it there. But since there is no styling possible there, you can write the post on Steemit and then copy the HTML there to make it easier.
