Summary Of Today's News:

Wow is it really March already?! Australians can buy crypto with their morning coffee. A Financial institution is offering crypto services. Previously hacked exchange, Coincheck, is getting sued. Crypto markets recovered a bit in February. Read all about it below!

1. Australians Can Now Purchase BTC, ETH Across 1,200 Newsstands In Win For Adoption

Source: https://cointelegraph.com/news/australians-can-now-purchase-btc-eth-across-1200-newsstands-in-win-for-adoption

Key Highlights:

  • "Australian cryptocurrency exchange Bitcoin.com.au has made buying Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) for fiat possible in more than 1,200 newsstands across Australia starting Thursday, March 1"

  • "In order to buy crypto from a participating Australian newsstand, consumers need to first acquire a crypto wallet, and then scan their wallet’s QR code with the newsstand’s iPad mini."

Crypto Phil's Take:

Like the article says, this is a big win for adoption. The more people that hear about and are able to easily get their hands on cryptocurrencies, the faster adoption and growth will be. All crypto holders should be happy about this.

2. Liechtenstein’s Bank Frick Introduces ‘Direct’ Cryptocurrency Investment And Cold Storage

Source: https://cointelegraph.com/news/liechtensteins-bank-frick-introduces-direct-cryptocurrency-investment-and-cold-storage

Key Highlights:

  • "Liechtenstein lending institution Bank Frick now offers “direct investment” and cold storage of five cryptocurrencies, it announced in a press release Feb. 28, noting it is the “first” financial instituion in the country to do so."

  • "Aimed primarily at “professional market participants and financial intermediaries,” according to Frick, investment and storage is offered for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ripple and Ether."

Crypto Phil's Take:

Another piece of good news in terms of adoption. I said in a recent post that once big money starts moving into cryptocurrencies, it will further legitimize the space. Moves like this by financial institutions are exactly what I'm talking about.

3. Japan: 132 Crypto Investors Sue Hacked Exchange Coincheck, Seek Reimbursement

Source: https://cointelegraph.com/news/japan-132-crypto-investors-sue-hacked-exchange-coincheck-seek-reimbursement

Key Highlights:

  • "132 crypto investors have filed a lawsuit against the Japanese-based crypto exchange Coincheck, seeking 228 mln yen (around $2 mln) in damages"

  • "Despite the company’s refund promise, ten crypto traders had already filed lawsuits against Coincheck on Feb. 15 at the Tokyo District Court over the company freezing crypto withdrawals. Coincheck began allowing yen withdrawals on Feb. 12, which settled one of the claims against the exchange."

Crypto Phil's Take:

I really feel for everyone affected by that particular hack. But on the flip side, everyone needs to keep in mind: If you keep your cryptocurrencies on exchanges, you don't own them. Do the safe thing and hold any coins you own onto a safe hardware wallet. You'll help immunize yourself from issues like this.

4. Litecoin Booms in February But 'Golden' Crypto Takes Price Podium

Source: https://www.coindesk.com/litecoin-booms-gold-crypto-best-february-price-performer/

Key Highlights:

  • "What began with a sell-off in bitcoin, one that pushed the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies to a 10-week low of $276 billion, has ended in a seeming recovery, with the total value hitting $450 billion Thursday to end February trading."

  • "DigixDao (DGD), an ethereum-based token, gained a staggering 136 percent last month, rising 90 percent in the last week alone to hit an all-time high of $597.66"

Crypto Phil's Take:

Good news for DGD holders. But I'm more happy to see the markets regaining some confidence again. I'm cautiously optimistic that we might start heading towards a Bitcoin that's over $12,000 within the next few weeks.
