Part 1

I spent a great deal of time in and out of various hospitals last year! That and laying around at home, convalescing. I despise atrophy, inactivity being somewhat of an anathema to me; so unable to work properly, for want of something better I decided to rekindle my writing career.

Ok that maybe a little grandiose, perhaps overstating my achievements a little, but I've always enjoyed it and besides my friends and neighbours the Trent’s positively insisted, "If all else fails Harry it'll keep your mind active, never lay back and take it!" I'm not entirely sure what he meant, he's full of witticisms.

Whenever he's in the country he never fails to drop in, as always bearing gifts, grapes, there's always grapes, as he constantly reminds me it's traditional. But it's the anecdotes that he conspicuously drops into conversation, where he's been and what he's been up to that I covet, then there's the alcohol. Often I can work out where he's been by what he brings. He knows I'm not much of a drinker, but in the last eight months I've amassed enough exotic spirits to open my own bar. He laughed when I mentioned this, "You'll have to call it Harry's Place, keep a good stock of aged scotch and I'll guarantee you four regulars!"
