A few days ago I made this post about the beta launch of Synereo's curation system WildSpark.

Yesterday they published The Immediate Roadmap covering the next steps in the short term which are:

  • widening the beta to 3000 users by the end of this month
  • releasing the first public version of their Chrome extension on 13th of August
  • extending their website to be a central hub for the ecosystem

WildSpark and Steemit

I don't know if Steemit and wildspark will be competitors or complementing each other. Both are plattforms, incentivizing the creation and curation of content with cryptocurrency.

But I think WildSpark has one advantage or at least a major difference compared to Steemit. Steemit is a self-contained platform where content is both created and curated.
WildSpark on the other hand, is a plattform-agnostic browser plugin and later a web service to curate and share content from all over the internet. Would you consider this an advantage over Steemit? Or are they two completely different things? Would be cool if content on Steemit, shared via WildSpark, would generate rewards in both ecosystems. Anyway... I can't really imagine what the relationship between both will look like.

How WildSpark works

As a content creator you can use WildSpark to receive AMPs. Curators that also use WildSpark can send it to you and then share your content by using a special WildSpark link. Rewards that are generated through this link are then shared between you and the creator.

Currently this only works on YouTube but obviously they will extend this to work with any site.

Unfortunately I am not yet part of the beta but here is the demonstration from their blog post:

Synereo

Synereo has been around since late 2014. Back then they introduced themselfes in this first blog post:

Synereo Project Unveiled

What will our networks look like five, ten, or thirty years from now? Can we really accept a world where our moods are constantly being manipulated by clever advertising algorithms for increased advertiser ROI or where our data is available to a government agency of any country simply because local legislation allows it? If we are to change our trajectory and build a future that belongs to all of humanity, then we must find a better way.

Synereo is the next and much needed logical step in the evolution of social media. It is an idea whose time has come, and we are happy to see so many talented and passionate people recognize this, providing their support for the project.

I really like this statement and how they are doing today. They communicate quite a lot and the community is growing, with around 4k likes on Facebook and 10k followers on Twitter... they've reached some popularity. And maybe most important, they have a real-world product now, which is WildSpark.

They also seem to have invested many thoughts in their long-term planning to be a big player in the "Attention Economy".

So, what do you think about Synereo and WildSpark? I am really excited to see how they will further evolve their ecosystem. How does it compare to Steemit? And do you know other projects like this? Let me know!

I hope you liked this short article. Upvote and/or comment if you did! :)

Thank you for your attention!

Nice article. I came across Synereo a while back and got myself a small stash of their coins. The value has been dropping since, but I think it's a long term hodl. Any techs looking into Attention Based Economy gets my support. I do see this as a competitor to Steemit as some would move or "choose" to spend spare time on one or the other. It all depends what fits the individual. There's enough space in the market for more than one style but maybe many won't like Synereo as it is happy to use and sit on toxic entities like youtube (ads, privacy etc). I am on the Beta waiting list so will know more soon - but I know more now due to your kind offering :-)

Your welcome! I am also waiting for my beta access. :) This "Attention Based Economy" thing could become quite a buzzword.

An excellent article we'll see what brings the future

Thank you! Was fun to write! :)

They are actually very different to the point that Synereo could be used to promote content on Steemit. You could upload your stuff on Steemit like usual and then promote it with Synereo which would bring in clicks from people who are not steemit users.

Yes, that's also the way I think it will be.
