Even in these dark times, it's possible to make money here

Like actual money, that you can buy things with. Is it smart to do that right now? No, probably not. Depends on what your overall strategy is, I suppose.

While my overall strategy is and always has been to accumulate and hold onto Steem, I've structured my entire Steem network of accounts to serve specific functions. One of those functions is to convert just a little bit of earned Steem to Bitcoin, then send it to Coinbase, where it can be spent using a debit card.

What's even cooler, though, is yesterday Coinbase announced that you can withdraw funds from Coinbase straight to Paypal. You can't deposit using Paypal, but they made it seem like that's just something which cannot be done yet. If I could keep selling my records and other things I don't need and get paid on Paypal, but then deposit that money to buy crypto with it, that'd be awesome.

Right now, I have a Cash app account that could be used like that, but getting people to pay me with that hasn't been easy. Most people have a Paypal account, but signing up for new things just to send money isn't always something most people are willing to do on a whim. It's understandable. Shit, I know a lot people who still won't use Paypal because they don't trust it.

The only things I've really bought with the money I've taken out is doggy daycare, food, and one movie with my wife. No lambos or anything. When Steem's value goes back up to even $1, I'll be in a much much better situation.

But if I can make it work, even a little, at these prices... I'm not giving up hope just yet. :)

The first thing I would like to buy someday when the prices go back up is a new, kickass computer. What about you?

Sort:

I am with you and loathe to spend anything in this depressed state. I am taking this time to accumulate as much as I am able. As people sell, I am buying little bits and it will make so much more when done at this awesome low level. If doom happens and BTC goes back down to $1500 I am DEFINITELY buying another whole Bitcoin.

A new computer would make sense as the video card prices have fallen with that of the GPU mining profitability and you can use it to make more money too.

When it goes back up, I am most likely going to spend some on something for the family. A trip or a small pool for the back yard. Spend it on experience/memories/life really.

Yeah that's a great idea. My wife and I really want to go back to Santa Cruz, where we got married. Maybe the best thing to spend money on when/if the markets go back up to holy shit levels would be some airfare and lodging.

I would want to buy more steem power

Yeah, that's the best idea. I'm sort of cash poor at the moment or I'd buy even more. If (or when) it gets down to $.25, I'll find some cash and buy a bunch. :)

I bought a new refrigerator with the money of steem, but when the price is almos $1.20.
Now, I'm just borrow a few coins with interests =]
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that's cool! I've been on Steemit for over a year, but when Steem was worth the most, I didn't have much of it. Sadly, I was still buying it then. So I've definitely got more of my own money invested in Steem than my accounts are currently worth, but it's a very longterm plan overall. I just hope that within a year, I can count on being able to upgrade a few things that will just help me create more content. New computer, some musical equipment, maybe a new camera.

Well, I change my refrigerator for the quantity of your SP. HAHAHA!
Just kidding. I'm trying to not switch my cryptos to fiat in that bear market and that is why I borrow some coins to my friends that use to make trades.
Here in steem, on my free time I'm trying to make new friends, comment and sharing content that people could like.
Cheers!
