Things everyone needs to know when joining steemit.
Commercials didn't lie abouth steemit, it really is awsome! They just forgot to tell you something.
People that joined steemit after they saw a commercial abouth this platform sometimes come here with the idea to make huge amounts of money from the day they join. I am not saying this is impossible, but to be honest, chances of getting rich from your first post are not much higher then winning the lotery with the first ticket you buy. Just to give you a more realistic idea abouth what you can expect, i listed a few important things you really need to know.

1)If you start on steemit today, you will not be a whale tomorrow. Your account needs time to grow. People need to find the way to your posts and
by writing quality content, giving upvotes, following people and giving valuable comments abouth other steemians articles you can show them the way.
2)Go for quality, not quantity. It is better to write 1 good post a day then to write 10 low-quality posts nobody will read.There is no shame in skipping
a day of writing when you dont have the inspiration for a quality post. It is better to skip the day and just make contact with other steemians by reading
there posts and giving good comments. That way you are still building your account without ruining your reputation and you have a good chance to meet
some awsome people that can become your steemian-buddy (follower) in the future.
3)Don't ask for upvotes! This is a very important one. I know it can be frustrating sometimes if you take your time to write a quality post and you are
not getting the amount of upvotes you expected. People still need to find your posts and you don't want them to find you while you are stalking them for
an upvote. In that case, people will not upvote you and will remember you as an annoying steemian without even looking to your quality post. There are
good initiatives from a lot of expirienced steemians that can help you getting started. Some of these initiatives that can help you are:
@newbieresteemday, @minnowsupport, SBD givaways, contests, riddles and lottery's. There are even some games available lately.

4)Never judge people by there ranks or amount of SteemPower.We all start as plankton members with a little amount of SteemPower. We all have to grow and
some steemians will grow faster than others. There are severall reasons for that: some invest a lot of time, some a lot of money and some are just lucky to
be found early by other members.Don't reserve all your upvotes for whales just to be noticed by them and someday get a vote back. Plankton members are just
as important and they will grow too. Plankton members of today can be whales in a few months, so it is never to early to make friends but it can be to late some
day if you ignore them for too long.
5)Make contact, socialize, we are a community. Talk to people, make conversations, enjoy your time here on steemit. There are a lot of ways to make contact to people.
You can comment there posts or find them on discord channels and just talk abouth things you love or give each other some advice abouth things you
learned. You can even make contact just to have a little talk when there is something bothering you. While making contact whitin the community, respect is
very important. People from all over the world are meeting here on steemit and so you can find all sorts of skin colors, religions, cultures and politics.
All things can be discussed, but there is no right or wrong whitin these subjects and every opinion needs to be respected!
We all came here because we share the same interests and these are the things we have to focus on. We are not here to argue, we are here to enjoy.

writing a book also gives no guarantee of immediately having a bestseller... So if you're in for the money, show us what you have to offer... if it's good, the steemit community will reward you...
That's exactly how new people should see it! Every post is like a small book. Content needs to be good and people need to find it. Finding 1 book in a library is hard buth if you are looking for any book from a specified author, it becomes easier with every new book the author makes.
