Steemit is the social media we have all been craving but didn’t remotely think was possible.

I can’t really contain my excitement about Steemit, and I’ve only been here for a little over a day. It is phenomenal - thank you so dearly to the creators and to all of you on here, especially all of those who have given me such a warm welcome.

Here are the 5 reasons I think Steemit blows all other social media platforms out of the park:

1)It is merit-based.

With Steemit, gone are the days when it’s easy to get traction simply because you have a cute baby or are good at pretending your life is perfect. Instead, those who have a gift for the platform and know how to give real value will do really well over time.

It is the first social media platform that really encourages people to share their best work without worry of not being received. As a result, people feel free to really give their best and remain hopeful that they will find the corner of the platform where people will get who they are and what they have to give.

2)It is not pretentious.

Most social media encourages a lot of faking and lying your way to approval by peers. Everyone everywhere else is pretending to be famous or more important than they are.

On Steemit, you just feel like you’re stepping outside to chat with your neighbours about what’s on your mind—but a step up in terms of the quality because it’s a bit curated!

3)It is home to intelligent and gifted people.

A lot of the people who are sick of other platforms and the way they are run are flocking to Steemit. Thus, not only because it is designed in a superb way, but also because of the people it draws as a result, it is a heartening environment where people are encouraged to be honest and really give their best, with the hope of it being truly validated and appreciated.

4)It is hopeful and life-giving.

Other social media lends itself easily to drama-rama, explosive news, fear-mongering, and unreflective venting.

On Steemit, because the environment is so refreshing and different, people come and stay and hang out because it is a pleasant place with a great mix of intelligent ideas and authentic sharing and creativity.

5)It is for real people.

Steemit isn't primarily for celebrities or people who are good at pretending to be celebrities. Instead, Steemit subtly but brilliantly encourages real people to come and be their real selves. Because it is not built to encourage fanfare in the same way, but truly gives everyone a chance to have their voices heard, everyone feels like they have something valuable to contribute.

And REAL people always do.
