My steemit experience - month 4 update - letseast, steemhunt, actifit, first ever SP delegation and more.

in #steemit6 years ago

I joined steemit in April, and on August 06, I will complete 04 months here.

I started my journey writing about cryptocurrency, trying to tone down hyped up news and amplify the importance on stuff not getting enough attention. Over a few weeks I realized that it was difficult to find an audience here without bots, so i started sharing my views on posts that had an audience. That helped me to start earning my first SP. From that point, my evolution on steemit has been very different than what I had imagined.

In July, I found tools built on top of the steem blockchain - @letseat @steemhunt and @actifit. I came across these platforms through people I follow, people who i identified after a month of going through different posts tag by tag. I must say I have become pretty active on all these 3 tools and earned enough SP to complete my first ever delegation to actifit. Next in line is letseat and hopefully, i will be able to delegate 100 SP to that project by the end of this month.

Here is what my bio showed on 31 July at 11:59:59 PM -

Here is what it was at the end of last month -

In terms of progress, my influence level increased by 6 levels in July compared to 3 in June. I was closer to 55 than 54. Here are the top reasons -

  1. Much of it was achieved because of steemhunt. I have been actively hunting products on that platform now. In July, a couple of my projects finished in top 10 in terms of hunt score. That helped received a big upvote from sh. Hunting for a 'cool' product is time consuming but comes with benefits - upvote, & you learn about new apps and innovations.

  2. Second largest help or upvotes came from @fulltimegeek. His bots regularly upvote my posts and I am truly grateful for that. Its nice to see regular appreciation for some of the effort i put in.

  3. I think letseat is number 3, upvotes from which have helped me gain more SP. Guys, i can't emphasize using letseat enough. This is my favourite tool. Its the most fun and a great way to progress towards becoming a minnow.

  4. Actifit is a relatively new tool that i have started using. I recommend that if you guys walk a lot daily, install this and post about it at the end of day. You get upvotes and get to collect actifit tokens for completing activities. If you missed out on steemit, benefit from becoming an early adopter of actifit.

  5. Last but not least, have to mention @clearbluecrypto, and @jaynie for regularly upvoting my posts and also commenting. Your support and appreciation is genuinely appreciated. Also @danielsaori for topping up my dustsweeper account. Thank you for that!

I also started following 13 more people and gained 24 followers. Followers have more or less stabilized now and not growing as it grew in the past few months.

This was also a pretty active month in terms of number of posts made, 359 to be precise, mostly on steemhunt. Interactions on steemit have now taken a hit, as i am commenting less on other posts than i was earlier. However, i have started upvoting a far greater number of posts on steemit and have improved my curating game for sure. There is one rule though, i don't upvote posts that have a self upvote.

The idea behind sharing this is so that others out there, who are trying to evolve as a blogger on steemit or want this place to be a source of extra income for them or want to increase their stake in the platform can find some of my experience helpful. If you do, then please let me know in comments.

I also want to mention about @theluvbug - the account is there to support new steemians by upvoting and resteeming their content, and @dustsweeper - it helps you ensure a payout on a post that earns less than $0.03. Please check them out if your earnings are low and your content does not reach out to many people.

Use tags like #nobidbots, #minnowuprising and #upvoteplankton started by @steevc, @taskmaster4450 and @kabir88.

The game is simple, engage engage engage - write good content. And please dont use promoting bots. They are a disgrace to this platform in my opinion.

Thank you for reading.

Great to see your progress. Getting started just seems to be getting harder and harder. I am glad your enjoying yourself though and Steemhunt really sounds like a great place for people to start building the SP.

I resteemed this post, I hope that helps, we need more people like you on Steemit.

You seem to be interested in tracking your progress, this following site which I run may help out a bit. I have attached a few screenshots.

Thank you for the resteem. Yeah the idea is that newcomers to steemit don't feel lost and have some tips to start their journey. Rest, its up to them on how they want to evolve.

I will check the link out. I was actually looking for something like this while writing the post.

Thank you for a great post @karamyog! I've been here for 6 months and recognize many of the things you're talking about here; I especially love @dustsweeper too, but it "ups" your comments that aren't at 0.03, not the posts :) And I've been at the receiving end of @fulltimegeek's bots as well and it's pretty exciting when you see that, isn't it? :)

I see that you also get how important commenting and engaging is, so I would recommend checking out @abh12345's Curation Leagues :)

I found your post because @diogosantos featured you in an entry to our Pay it Forward Curation Contest where I'm one of the judges. You're more than welcome to join us next week with an entry of your own :)

Hello @lynncoyle1, thank you for commenting. I have seen you topping asher's engagement league a number of times. I am a part of it but I have never made it that high on the list :) i am in the top 25% though.

Fulltimebot is one of the best people on steemit. He saved me when i was hit by 2 big flags a couple of months ago.

Thanks for clarifying the dustsweeper thing, i dont know why i thought my posts had also been upvoted by it in the past.

I do have an entry for last week's pifc contest, may be the last one. I am on their discord now, so should be able to post sooner.

Thanks a lot again for your kind words.

You're welcome @karamyog; congratulations for making The Curation League list...that's the top 20% so you should be very proud of that.

I did since see your entry; thank you :)

Glad to hear about your experience, and thank you for delegating to Actifit :)

Excellent mate, "engage" is the main key

Impressive what you have done in a short amount of time. I have found that it goes and comes for me, I take a week or two off and then a week or two on. I struggle with the consistency, which was a steem goal of mine. That being said, I still am hitting some of my other goals of becoming a better author and learning about crypto. Thanks for helping by suggesting great content and cool ideas. Much appreciated

ugh, they dont have actifit for IOS yet. Cant join with ya yet.

Yeah, ever since i started posting on steemhunt, my influence level has moved up quite rapidly. So its been good to get active on that. That's also something you should try. Its a good way to earn curation rewards and SP on comments, even if you can't find time to hunt.

I try to stay consistent. I like to some increase in my SP everyday. When i started, i gave myself a target of earning at least $1 a day, now i have changed that to number of posts.

Good to know you're hitting some of your targets. And i glad you have found my posts useful. That was the idea to start this update.

I think letseat is also only on android. I am sure ios versions will be out soon.

Wanted to let you know that @diogosantos featured you in their Entry Post to Week 18 of the Pay It Forward Curation Contest.

Like your monthly wrap up post. Something that I personally meant to do (@thedarkhorse by the way & my personal vote will be coming when the @pifctrail votes). Just seemed not to have time each month when it should be done.

Looks like you are growing nicely and see that tarazkp voted for you so that is a good sign in my book. Enjoy his posts and he is part of our discord.

The way you ended "engage engage engage - write good content." is really what our contest is all about. We are looking for people who write good content and try to reward them for doing so. If you have a minute maybe check us out and see if it's something you think you might want to be part of. Sorry for promoting on your post like that, you can look at my comments it's not my normal thing. But think you might enjoy what we are doing.

Anyways either way best of luck and keep steeming on!

Thank you @diogosantos! And thank you for commenting on my post, and the upvote. Even i was happy to see a vote from @tarazkp. I like his blog and to get an upvote from him was special.

I will check pifc out. I think i have come across it previously. I haven't gone into details, thanks a ton for bringing it to my attention here again. Even if i can nominate quality posts, i am than happy to do it. Let me go through your page.

thanks for sharing your journey !! good to know about the tag #upvoteplankton .

#nobidbots !!

Pleasure, i am glad you found the post helpful!

Sounds like a great 4 months!
You dove head first down the rabbit hole of STEEM!
That's the way to do it ;)

Yup, the first month was difficult but then I've found ways to enjoy steemit. I dont use any of the other social media sites at all anymore.

Cheers to that!

@creativeblue supporting the greats initiatives!
go ahead...

okay.. let's do this first as a welcome to the club greetings which I really love to do this even though we've already have a chat before.. hehehehe
I found your post through @diogosantos who has featured you in the pay it forward contest this week... hahaha, you're only 4 month old and now you're ready to delegate some SP to other.. seems like it's me who need to learn from you and seek for the added value from your post. I'll check on your other post ... Thank you

Thank you for welcoming me @cicisaja! My SP earned was actually not that high, i thought its better with a new application in steemit blockchain than lying idle with me. Looking forward to interacting with you and others more.

You're welcome... don't worry about it, I knew how to sort things out from many interesting posts and then combined it with my other strategies. Yeap.. I have several strategies to grow on Steemit though many times I failed to control my VP.

And I can see you didn't see your comments on those two blogger posts? Well... you should at least interact with them on their posts too.

Yeah, hopefully will do that next time. But since i did not comment, they would have gotten a nice surprise when they saw the comment from pifc. :) i will try and interact more.
