Steemit Saturday, The first Steemit event, is coming to a city near you!
Steemit Saturday is an event where the steemit community gets together to learn more about Steemit, BlockChain and Cryptocurrency.
The website will look similar to the image above. This is just an example and the events are not arranged yet
I am a specialist in the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) industry due to being in the Document and Records Management game for many years. I was part of implementation teams for Multi-National Companies across various continents. The implementation was on various technology sets, but for the past few years mainly Microsoft SharePoint as it took the world by storm. I am also a avid supporter of ^Steemit, BlockChains and Cryptocurrency.^
So why am I telling you this…
SharePoint is a platform which integrates into the rest of the organisations systems and other platforms, the platform is so integrated and consists of so many features and functions, that it created a SharePoint community of end-users, developers, information analysts and various other roles. The platform is so big that all of us had to learn from our peers and even competitors. Do yourself a favour and speak to any SharePoint Developer or community member, in any country and they will say that we are a small community… So what did we do to learn from each other.
How it all started
A community was started where every Saturday somewhere in the world, a SharePoint Saturday event is held. The only reason for Saturday is to make the event more accessible for everybody, some of us still needs to work you know!
The event is free to attend, and funded by sponsors in that specific country. Typical sponsors are IT Implementation companies, 3rd party service providers… Basically anybody that want some "Advertising" on the day. It is not a massively expensive event to arrange. We usually rent a venue for the day, get food and drinks for the guests and most importantly we have speakers travelling from across the world. Just like Steemit, we have the whales :) We just don't call them whales… they are usually referred to as SharePoint celebrities.
First Steemit Saturday, Johannesburg South Africa!
Steemit, is a massive platform with infinite possibilities and there are communities being formed across the world. These communities consist of authors, (good ones and upcoming ones), people who just enjoy being part of it, Whales and Dolphins, Developers of 3rd Party applications to improve the platform.
So I am starting Steemit Saturday! Every Saturday somewhere in the world, we have a gathering of Steemit enthusiasts for the specific area.
Each event will be planned as follows:
Friday Evening: Speakers Dinner - Attended by all the speakers from the Saturday including the Whales which are invited for the specific event and the event organisors from the specific country.
Saturday - The main day of the event. Starts at 08:00 - 13:00. Opening Key Note (30 Minutes), followed by various speakers (45 Minute Slots). Speakes to be confirmed but should include Whales and Dolphins, area specific authors and developers. The day will be closed off at 13:00 followed by drinking a few beers and mingling.
Sunday: The Speakers will be entertained by the organisers of the event for that city / country.
So what happened to SharePoint Saturday, Celebrities / Speakers were created and all they do is travel the world and speak somewhere in the world each Saturday. I do not want to single out anybody from the rest of the community, but people like @stellabelle, @liberosist , @infovore , @piepiper , @cryptogee , @smooth , @steemed , @craigrant , @lehard , @gavvet you will be an excellent speakers at an event like this. I am planning to have the first event in ##Johannesburg South Africa##, but as you can understand, this will take a few weeks to arrange. I would like to invite anybody that is interested to be speakers at these events to please communicate with me via the comment section below.
Events like these will assist Steemit to become a household name, market and popularize the currency and platform.
@ned, @dan and @berniesanders all the whales, upcoming dolphins watch your mail, as you will be invited to come and speak in our wonderful country South Africa very soon!

My man is from South Africa. Actually, Jozzy (Joburg). He is the one that showed me Steemit, although he cannot join since he has no Facebook or Reddit. He grew up in Fordsburg? Or somewhere close to mayfair... I forget. lol
He could definitely take charge of this all and be a good host.
To answer your question, he teaches me some Afrikaans that he remembers.

Thanks @isonny, the event is working incredibly well for SharePoint all across the world and I am confident that we can do the same for Steemit Saturday. I will post more comments as we go further in the arrangements and discussions.
I can really see this growing big, every city should have it's own "Steemit Ambassador" who will be in charge of organising these events or cities could have special chat rooms in steemit chat, to organise these events.
