Steemit Upvote Bots

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Regardless of your opinion on the positive or negative aspects of Steemit Upvote Bid Bots they are swimming around the Steemit sea and seem to be here to stay. So Why not take advantage.

But Wait! Stop! Hold Your Horses! Don't Blindly Bid!!!

For those that may not understand how a Steemit Upvote Bid Bot works I will explain very simply.

The Bid Bot account has a certain amount of VP or Voting Power (this decreases with each vote and represents the amount of Vesting Steem or amount an Upvote from this account at 100% is worth. The Bid Bot will Vote Either when the % is over a certain amount like maybe over 80% VP, or every certain amount of time maybe every 2.4 hours.

So users Bid for a percentage of this Upvote by sending in SBD known as STEEM DOLLARS. This is done on the drop down arrow next to the STEEM DOLLARS amount in your Wallet. Then in the box beside To enter the bot account or @ isteemithard to be nice to me. In the Amount enter the SBD amount you would like to Bid.... But Wait!

Before you skip to the next step and enter the URL of the post you want Upvoted in the Memo, Make sure your Bid is Profitable!

Make sure your Bid is Profitable!

Making a Profitable Bid

The most important part is making a profitable bid, this is most important to everyone else more than just you because your bid effects everyone else with an open bid.

If your Bid or Sent SBD amount is more than the Max Profitable Bid remaining you will now receive an Upvote less than the amount you sent.

But that't Not the Worst Part

What makes this even worse is that now everyone else with a Bid or Sent SBD will also receive an Upvote less then the sent amount meaning a negative ROI or Return On Investment. This can not only upset other users but create some what I call Steem Shark frenzies resulting in those users attacking you with Flags on the post you overbid with.

At first you may think hey whats going on why are steemians all flagging or downvoting my post and the reason is well you in essence robbed them of SBD by taking away from them what would have been profitable bids.

At this point even the Bid Bot account owner can become upset because the effected users may not all understand this concept and think the Bot is not profitable or working correctly and refrain from using it again.

Solution

The solution is simple make sure you do not Bid more or over the Max Profitable Bid. This mathematical confusing task has been made simple by the very very gracious and very intelligent steemit user @yabapmatt who provides us all with https://s3.amazonaws.com/yabapmatt/bottracker/bottracker.html

Steem Upvote Bot Tracker

@yabapmatt doesn't charge anything or make any money off of this tool so show your support by voting for him for Steem witness! Go to https://steemit.com/~witnesses and enter "yabapmatt" in the vote box at the bottom of the page.

I will not explain how to use the Steem Bot Tracker in this post because all that information is easily explained on the site. But I will add this segment of that information because I find it valuable for those that may miss it

"typically try to bid around 50% of the Max Profitable Bid amount right before the Next Vote time."

I hope this helps not only those reading this but the users whos bids are impacted by these readers as well.

Here is a list of some Upvote Bid Bots running at the time I am making this post. Keep in mind to always check the Bot before bidding to make sure it is running properly. You may want to check the wallet and see if past bidders received an upvote.

I tried bid bots, didn't liked them. Too wasteful. The tool for watching bid bots is nice, but you it shows only the how much you would make if nobody else makes a bid after you. If someone makes a bid after you the profit calculation changes.
Personally, I prefer to use minnowbooster. It didn't disappoint me till now.

Thats why the Next Vote timer is so important, the best concept is to wait until just before the bid window closes so you bid right before the bot starts to upvote that way any bid that comes in after yours will be counted for the next voting window and not affect your bid.
