Steem is Taking Off. Here’s How You Get a Steem Account (Easy Way). . .
I wrote this guide based on how I advise friends and family to get started with Steem; it's mostly written with Facebook users in mind who we all know would be better served on Steemit.

Right now is a great time to get into Steem. Here's the easy way I recommend to friends and family.

Steemit is how I got involved on the Steem blockchain. It's the easiest way to sign up.
Steem is a blockchain system where people who create or curate content can start getting paid for free by posting content for author rewards and/or curating content with upvotes for curation rewards. Steemit is currently the best, most developed and most reliable way to interact with/on the Steem blockchain (though there are other options, such as busy.org).
Signing up through Steemit is free and is the easiest way to get started.
When people join the Steem community, they can immediately begin earning rewards. You can increase your influence and rewards through "vesting" in the blockchain, but the first step is signing up.
The signup process begins with choosing a username. This will appear as @[username] on Steem - for example, I entered holsturr so mine is @holsturr. Next, you'll enter your information. Somewhere around a few days to a week after submitting your details, you'll be emailed a confirmation message with a link to complete the signup process.
The next step involves a special password that is very important - it will be your Master Key, a string of 52 characters that controls access to your whole account - including your Steem wallet, and you'll only see it presented once after clicking the account confirmation link. It's essential to make sure you copy your key down correctly and protect it. I personally copied and pasted mine into a word processor and HTML editor (Brackets) in addition to carefully writing it down on a physical sheet of paper. Just be sure you save or write down your key correctly before moving on.
Signing up through Steemit is quick and easy, but it can be anywhere from a few days to a week or more before your confirmation email arrives, so it's best to complete the signup process now; I promise you'll be excited to get involved and start earning. Cryptocurrency can be confusing to understand and unfamiliar to use, but Steemit provides a good familiar interface to open the Steem blockchain to anyone. Using Steemit is more involved than just posting on Facebook or reddit, but the rewards are worthwhile and the community is strong and growing. But again, the first step into this new world is signing up.
