Is self-upvote the easy way to earn money? A Trend or a Game!

in #steemit6 years ago

Hi Steemians

Why do users upvote themselves?
Well i dont think that they couldnt find any interesting posts out there to upvote them. And I dont think that they are too shy to write a post or share their experiences.
Unfortunately many of them are spammers! They write comments everywhere without even reading the posts or upvoting them. They upvote only their comments or let their friends do it. So imagine if everyone of them writes about 100 comments per day and let his friends upvote his comments! This will lead to major unnecessary problems on Steemit and a decrease of the Steem price. While many other Steemians will be frustrated, because nobody reads their posts.

I do not think it is good to to self-upvote your comments, mostly the short comments "Nice post", "Thank you for the information" etc... That make us even doubt if the person commenting read the post or not.

Other users come rarely online and arent even active in the community. They upvote only their posts and leave. Thats another lazy way to earn money. They invest in the platform and upvote every single one of their own posts. I understand that many of them invested a lot of money in the community, but it wont harm to check new posts of new people and reward them. And here I am talking about upvote worth 150$ and more not 0.50$ Thats a big difference :) And sometimes these upvotes go to a meme or meaningless posts!

Can users upvote their posts?
Absolutely! Steemians are allowed to upvote their posts. Mostly newbies, because their votes don't seem to carry much weight in anyway. And their voting power is nothing compared to those of some whales. We should follow a balanced voting strategy that focuses more on others than ourselves. But nothing wrong with us upvoting our posts.

What do you think about self-upvoting. Is it acceptable or not! Is it Good or Bad!
Upvoting your own posts is of course a personal choice and if you are a minnow you get more exposure by self-upvote. So maybe we shouldn't really think about right or wrong but about the right strategy to play this "Game".

Thank you for reading and I would like to know your opinion as well :)

You are absolutely right @hanen (i do not comment for upvoting) i also feel it is a big crash with us.They upvote thiere post with high voting power so there post boost automatically and our post not read by anyone.Steemit is the first platform which is appreciate one's skills but due to the spammers like them it is to difficult for us to show our kills.

You write on very sensitive issue i appreciate your thoughts follow you already.

Thank Dear! But we should never give up. Keep trying till the end :)

I'm self-voting only my posts. This is around 10% of all my votes.

Steemworld.org
I use most of my voting power for other users.

Thats interesting! I didnt know that we can check it on Steemworld :)

This post was kind of eyeopening for me since I didn't know shorter comments/compliments on pictures are some sort of general issue/ irritate people. Now I understand that people doing that are spammers, but earlier I didn't even know you benefit from commenting so I thought it's normal and ok to write "nice picture" etc on posts if you really do think it's nice and thats all. I'm a bit embarrassed now cause some might have thought I'm just some stupid spammer when all I tried was to be polite and give the comment with upvote😐

Hhhh so you got it in the right time :) Yes it is a bit different here if you compare it to Instagram or Facebook. People notice long comments and read them, but ignore the short ones :)

Well this is for sure good to know so now I can atleast avoid accidentally giving bad impression of my self by commenting shortly😅

Comment edited. Sorry for disturbance.

Agree 100%. Eventually the website needs some sort of “spam” feature built in to prevent people from using a bot to comment the same “Nice post.” comment all over Steemit in the hopes of getting an upvote here and there.

It’s really annoying, a major problem, and needs to be stopped. Stuff like this will prevent good users from posting.

We have @steemcleaners now and they are flagging all Spammers, but they cant do this alone. I think we need to help and make it a better place :)

"Really nice post a post. You wrote about new Steemit friends like us. In fact, newcomers often post many posts, but many people do not see their post and do not upvote. Because of which the new Steemit friends are frustrated. Many people comment again and do not get the result. They do not vote for them. One day these new Steemit friends will also be successful. But when he does not vote for the new people he will follow the same system. I think it's fair to verify the good and bad. The new ones will benefit if they give good gifts without seeing the reputation.

Thats absolutely true!

This morning I did not know the difference between power up and default, but every time I read more and I see more viable to invest in steem.

You have to learn a lot in the next days :) You can also watch Youtube videos about Steemit and learn some tricks :)

Wowwwww... A Mazing.

Don't spam.

Hhhh Thats what we are talking about lol

There is a big problem of people/bots writing comments like 'great post' etc. And begging for upvotes and followers.

As a minnow I can see the temptation in doing this but it's not engaging people and looks desperate. Great post by the way 😉

Indeed! Thank you, I hope that it is helpful :)
