MinnowSupport SP delegation and the success of the Project

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Since HF19 kicked in last week we have experienced multiple problems with Streemian. It is used to power one of the upvote bots at the #minnowsupportproject and we noticed it draining our voting power too quickly while new members were having problems signing up to it. Last night at PALnet @aggroed announced that he was thinking of an alternative: members could opt to delegate some of their Steem power towards minnowsupport and stop using Streemian altogether. Steemvoter is still a must however.

Because I am building my voting power back up ready for my delegated curator duties for acidyo soon, I jumped at the chance to switch off my account on Streemian and initially tested the waters by delegating 50 SP. My delegation game was poor however and @zeartul was beating my contribution by delegating 100 SP. This could not stand! I promptly matched his delegation. See below for a video from him on how to delegate SP.

https://steemit.com/delegate/@zeartul/how-to-delegate-steem-power-the-easy-way-if-you-have-over-30-sp-you-can-delegate

This is another way I feel I am contributing to the best project on Steemit. Many others have also delegated some of their SP and @snubbermike has made a wonderful contribution of 1000 SP to help power the upvote bot. I tip my hat to you Sir!

I know almost every other post I make on Steemit involves the minnow support project but I feel it is having a real effect in helping new Steemians grow.

@xpency joined the group recently and we got chatting at PALnet, where I discovered the great work he is doing to promote Steemit in his home country of Nigeria. His project could have real impact on his fellow Nigerians, helping to improve their lives through the power of Steemit. He graciously asked if I would share his latest post in which he presented Steemit to 200 attendees of his second presentation. Of course I agreed. Yesterday I got the following messages from him:

xpency - Yesterday at 11:17
did u see how my post made it ?

I took a look and was shocked to see it had already reached over $2000 with 300 odd votes and many replies expressing support.

GMuxx - Yesterday at 11:23
Oh my God! Wow, really well done!

xpency - Yesterday at 11:26
Yes
it is going places

GMuxx - Yesterday at 11:27
I am so pleased for you, truly

xpency - Yesterday at 11:28
and I am so happy for your support

I looked at the trending page and he was in the no.3 spot.

GMuxx - Yesterday at 11:28
You are quite high up on the trending page too
It is my pleasure
I am thinking of making a post to show how this community can have real impact in helping people like yourself. Is it ok for me to include you in it?

xpency - Yesterday at 11:30
yes include me
as long as we can inspire people

Now, I am not so conceited as to believe my resteeming his post alone earned him this success, but in the background we have kept in touch on Discord and I have tried my best to help and steer @xpency in the spirit of the minnow support project.

Just today I received the following messages from another member @tech-trends. We started off on the wrong foot. He sent me a link to one of his posts asking me to upvote it. I pointed out this wasn't the point of the project and described how MSP works. He has since come on in leaps and bounds.

GMuxx - Today at 17:57

I am currently writing a post about success stories from this project. Do you mind me quoting those last 2 messages from you?

Well by going with my feelings I would say It is hard to find New Talents on Steemit some new contents or idea come up but get buried very quickly and I've noticed that very few people are able to see my content and thus when few people see it it gets hard for the that Steemian to Feel Appreciated and Satisfied with his work by your project you not just merely resteem a post by a New Talented Steemian but also give him a wide exposure so that many people can see his idea and content and appreciate it , thus this helps the New Steemian to stay motivated and then he creates more Beautiful Content to make this Community the best among all the others.

This is what our community is all about. We help, support and guide new Steemians through the treacherous waters of their early Steemit journey. It has been a great success and grows daily, we currently have 1290 members! If you think this could be of use to you please come and join us in chat at PALnet

Buddy you and @aggroed are relentless in your dedication to the msp.
My hat is off to you both. Thanks for the help earlier.
Another example of your "legendary" status.
Top man. @tremendospercy

Thank you dude. Just paying it forward.

You do more than your fair share

That's a cool success story you've shared @gmuxx. The MSP is so good! And thanks for the heads up on the SP delegation. Streemian is working well at the moment, but it's always good to have options.

Good post, I am a member, it has helped a lot, and made some new friends. All new minnows need to check it out :D

Thank you for your support

I joined up with minnowsupport yesterday morning and then walked my brother through setting up his account to it as well. In the next week my sister will be set up as well

At the moment we're all in the two digits for SP but the goal will be to deligate and help others out. It's a cool thing they're doing.

It really is a great project, happy to have you all on board

Great work, everyone!
Trying to conserve my power, but I'm right here with you! :)

Thank you

Thank you for the support. It is comforting to know as a wide eyed minnow, that instead of being dropped in the middle of a hurricane shark infested hostile ocean, there are people such as yourself who help to ensure we are placed in a calm and tranquil sea. Where we get the guidance to not only secure or survival but also our success. Keep paying it forward...

I plan too. Plenty more little fish in the sea

I'm a MSP member, @gmuxx guided my signing up. Right now I don't have much SP to delegate. So I should stop using streemian, keep the steemvoter running, and still be a member?
Do you have tips on how to delete the streemian account and especially remove my private key from there?

Nevermind I found it. Go to http://app-account.streemian.com/ enter the steemit account and active key, then "Downgrade". Check https://streemian.com/profile/ to make sure the autorization is deactivated. And as a precaution, perhaps change the steemit password and keys altogether. And BACKUP the new steem password/keys. Repeat BACKUP.

Thanks for that

@gmuxx i'm looking forward to your very helpful posts and i imagine being part of your community. Still at the stage of learning the system. minnow here i resteemed it for future reference and i followed u.

Thank you. Feel free to drop into chat, maybe we can help you learn the ropes quicker

As soon as possible after i earn a bit. Thanks for your attention! Well appreciated.

If you need the steem to sign up hit me in chat

Thank you for everything you're doing to help others.

My resteem may not account to much, but I did anyway.

Thank you
