Bandwidths Problem

I am having problems with bandwidths. Last night, I couldn't post anything. I always get a response that I have exceeded my bandwidth and that I have to wait or power up before I can transact. That's funny. I haven't posted a single article or blog for over 6 days now. The only postings I did were either comment on some posts that I found interesting or reply to some people who react to my previous blogs. No 2,000 words blog or videos or anything. Now how can I possibly have exceeded my bandwidth?

When I began in Steemit last December 2017, I was posting left and right, commenting and replying, resteeming and I did not have problems with bandwidths. Now, even with the decrease in my activities in Steemit over the last week, I have somehow manged to exceed my limit.

I asked my daughter what this could be. She said, "You know papa, it's like when you write you use up ink. If you wrote a lot, you run out of ink. So you either wait to be recharged or you buy new ink." But that's exactly my point. I haven't been writing at all.

I almost converted some of my SBD's but decided just to wait today.

While waiting to recharge, I came across an article by @bycoleman. I resteemed it but you can check the link here. In his article, he was asking where the money from steemit was coming from considering there are no advertisers nor sufficient interest bearing accounts. So he is saying in his blog that without these the only way for Steemit to survive and continue giving rewards is to bring in more people who can power up. For as long as new members come in and power up, there will be enough to pay content authors and curators. But how long can this last? Pretty soon, there will not be enough new members to sustain Steemit.

Then suddenly, inspiration!

I finally realized the reason why I was having bandwidths problem. Steemit wants me to power up so I can continue posting uninterrupted. So, if I cannot wait, then I just convert my existing SBD to SP. But what about others who do not have SBD's to convert? Then they have to buy SP by paying it from their own pocket. And therein lies the answer (at least partly) to the question "Where will the money come from?" It will come eventually from us, the existing members and not only the new ones, when we begin to buy Steem Power from our own pockets either by cashing in on our other investments and putting them all in Steemit just so we can continue to post and earn Rewards.

Business as usual, folks.

However, this does not bode well in the future. Members who do not earn much (and these are a lot) may decide to leave the platform if they find out that they have to invest in steem just so they can post to their hearts' content and hopefully earn substantial rewards. But the big ones with the big following are the ones really eating up the rewards in our platform. A lot of Steemians are more interested in chasing curation rewards than bother with content and that will eventually discourage new members from coming in.

The above post is just my opinion and may be inaccurate or inadvertently misinformed. But I suggest you read the article of @bycoleman and go over the comments and reply section where so many questions I am sure you also have lingering in your minds are answered. When I cam across the article, it had only about $33 in rewards. Now as of this writing it already has been upvoted 206 times and $113 in rewards.

Have a good day.

Ah!

I'm not the only one wondering where the $ comes from. Another mystery are mineable coins such as Bitcoins. What happens when they are all "mined"? Why wound anyone have a node "mining" (hosting computations and verifying transactions) if there is nothing to gain? Once all Bitcoins are mined, the protocol has to be changed allowing for more Bitcoin. Just like governments printing more money.

You are right. Either that or instead of mining what will happen is trading. Bitcoin will be bought and sold to the highest bidder and since the supply is limited it becomes even more valuable.

Thanks for visiting. Saw some of your posts. Nice pics. Following you.

I also encountered the same problem po. So this is how it works heheheh

Joy, salamat sa bisita. Hindi pa rin ako nagpa power up he he. Kaya ayun laging bandwidth problem. Tagal tuloy kita nasagot.

i had the same problems for the past 2 days. it might also be a network problem due to influx of users. there might a network congestion.

I think it's a glitch I hope they will fix it so soon...

I hope so too @long888. I am now reluctant to invite friends to join us because of this bandwidth issue. One of my friends @jarmenkell91 whom I invited had this problem on his third day in the platform. He just joined us last week. I was embarrassed actually when he said he had to cut short or defer some of his blogs because he could not post them. 3rd day pa lang. Naunsa naman uy.

But again it could be that the influx of new members is putting too much pressure on Steemit's computers that they have to limit airtime of members, especially new ones and those with very little or no SP's. It could be a strategy also to "encourage" existing members to convert more of their Steem Dollar holdings to Steem or Steem Power because these tokens take longer to cash out than SBD's thereby saving them money with which to fund cash outs.

Salamat sa bisita. Oh by the way, pwede ka talaga maging model. The SteemitAchievers tee shirt really looked good on you and the others.

Sorry to hear about your friend sir, since the value of both sbd and steem is very low at the moment i suggest for everyone to invest in sp, it could at least increase the bandwidth and i am also thinking about this as their strategy to encourage or force a bit, everyone to really invest. I remember i wrote about this somewhere.

Anyhow I also hope this is just a glitch since i dont hear some other new members complaining regarding their bandwidth. I will have to check this issue.

Model gyod sir hehe tnx for the compliment, i hope you and the 3 kids will also use the design for our group tshirt. I will provide my kids with their tshirts also soon.

Done. Magpapicture mi tanan with the the tee shirts.

I received a comment just recently from @jon24jon24 on a post by @bycoleman link is here saying that he has 400 followers and some have been having issues with bandwidth. He also noticed that those having problems were newbies who joined last month and this month. And also those who recently cashed out their SBD's. You might want to look at the link while checking this issue.

https://steemit.com/steem/@pinay/buying-steem-and-powering-up

Yung mga witnesses mas makakasagot po https://steemit.com/witness-category/@bue/bue-witness-post

Salamat sa bisita madam. Sabi sa iyo nakakatulog ako pag binabasa ko post mo about conversion and wallets and all those coin exchanges. Para bang namemental block ako. Hindi ko pa narereview. Pero I am sure I will get to read them more closely and I will be an expert on this through your tutorials he he. Is it more profitable to convert SBD and SP to Steem?

• SBD to Steem to SP

Then if you want to cash out, Power Down lang po.
https://steemit.com/sbd/@pinay/steem-steem-cash-out

Hindi po safe magkeep ng Steem at SBD sa wallet kasi pag may nag attempt manghack makukuha po agad funds natin unlike if we move Steem/SBD sa "Savings" may 3 days clearing at sa SP naman 7 days clearing pag nag Power Down kaya pwede pa natin maagapan in case may hack. :)

Buti nga tinanggal na "Convert to Steem" option kasi may nagkakamali magclick nun. Ngayon ko lang napansin na wala na sya under SBD wallet. Dapat alisin na rin nila 100% Power Up pagcreate ng post kasi nagagamit pa ng walang alam.

WwwAaaOoo...!! jams bond .. i like you post. i am new here so please follow me and i follow you..i feature we create a great bond i jams bond..!!

Well written.
I used to exceed limit too.

This is really helpful for newcomers to steemit.

I've been having the same problem as you, and found the same response. But....even after having powered up my bandwidth continued dropping. It actually dropped from 5% to -140% within 30mins of powering up...how did this happen??? Bandwidth is calculated as a weekly average. That would also explain why you didn't have any bandwidth even after having not posted for 6 days. On top of that, commenting, voting, redeeming rewards, and loading pages all uses up bandwidth...

But your recommendation is spot on, produce less content but better quality! :)

Good luck finding the right balance ;) Thanks for your post.

I'm a bit late in replying to you. Same problem, bandwidth exceeded. Had to wait a while. That really shouldn't happen after powering up, I mean the bandwidth dropping after 30 mins. Is there a plumber in the Steemit platform we can call to fix the leak? While we're at it, how did you find out about the 5% bandwidth? Is there a link to this?

Thanks for stopping by to read this post. Might be a long ways to go in the quest for the right balance. I just hope we find it in Steemit and not elsewhere.

Haha no worries, we're all in the same boat on this (or leaking pipe?? ;) I think this place has the potential, I haven't seen an internet platform that has such a dedicated community and rules to enforce what people want! Keep the quality posts coming and I'm sure we'll get there eventually! We've just got to make sure we don't let advertising etc. come in and turn this into another fartbook!

You can see your bandwidth and voting power here: https://www.steemd.com/@username (put your name there)

Thanks @pv-p. Will check the link.

Top notch post my friend. I'm glad to have a little support on this one as it surely is not popular subject matter with the big guns when anyone questions the money trail that is feeding them (very well).

Hope we are both whales someday but I hope even more we move towards a more equatable and sustainable system that will TRULY and HONESTLY award great content but allow all to participate freely.

Will we experience such a balanced system? Isn't Steemit a mirror of the world outside? The rich rule, the poor have to struggle to work up. You can have a small group estimating your well-worked-out posts or a big group of follwers for eye-catching and heart-stirring content - or maybe you get specialized on some sensantional topic. There is no board giving awards, no neutral jury... Some specialists are luckier than others here, according to the laws of market. We can nonly accept the rules of the game.

Outside of steemit 99% of the wealth is controlled by 1-2% of the people (or so we are told)
The rest of us fight over what is left. And Steemit is really no different and this could certainly be improved by limiting paid voting bots and programmatic manipulation.

The problem that I am most concerned about is how long can it last if the 1% cannot keep bringing in enough to pay the 99%?

Perhaps advertisements or smart media tokens will be required.

My proposal: Abonnements for external readers at a cheap price, like 1 Euro or Dollar monthly. Why I came upon this idea? I am writing on a narration series and more people from outside (like my relatives and fb-friends) read my posts and even share and forward them) but this is worthless for me and worthless for the community! Some of them are not willing, most of them not able to open a Steemit account. But even then. If they remain inactive their VP would be zero. No idea, however, how to handle this because Steemit as a social media should remain open to the world.
Perhaps a voluntary supporting fee or a fee for special services (which have to be created).
It‘s a pity that there is no developer pool for such ideas. I have other proposals but I do not know how to reach those who created the user surface....

Keep on thinking!

There is a new proposal by the founders called SMT. I don't yet know enough about it, but it looks like they are trying to solve this problem -- but Steemit would change!

Yes, a developers tag or space is a must (perhaps it is already here somewhere -- I'm too new to know).

And I am rather new, too. As far as I understand the Utopia-io is the spot for developers. But I am no computer specialist. I am looking for a place where user and progammers meet. The best pracitice is by fixing problems... So there should be or might be a place for us to report bugs and other issues. Will I have the courage to ask my more experienced felllows in the Austrian and German Discord channels? There's always so much shame... The expectation to receive a: "You don't know, you should now, haven't you read...?".... But I will ask now. There's a subchannel "questions of newbies"...

Yes, I really believe users should be able to and feel encourage to submit feedback and requests -- no mater what level of understanding they have.

My guess is that there probably is a Discord channel(s), but I really am too new to know.

Thanks for the repy.

Boat rockers is probably what we should be called. It is an honor and pleasure to have a chance to support you, my new friend. I learned a lot from you today. If more whales are like you then I shouldn't worry too much about Steemit's future.

Sorry I couldn't reply sooner as I was experiencing bandwidth problems again.

Thank your for the laugh. I'm certainly no whale, but who knows....
I believe people benefit the most when everyone has an equal chance to succeed.

There is no doubt if you have a few dollars you can promote yourself here and get recognized fast even with marginal content -- I paid to resteemed may post and it was seen. If I had not, then two people might have viewed it before it scrolled into oblivion.

I forgot to ask. How much did you pay to have your post resteemed? And who did you contact or connect with for this service? Was it the Promote icon below the post towards the right side?

Checkout my wallet and you can see the activity. This is public information you can see about anyone.

The promote icon puts your post under the "Promoted" category on the top of the platform (next to new and hot). I did not use this, not sure it is very effective.

I just resteemed a post by @sandalphon. You might be interested to read it. The post, by the way, was under the promoted category which is the reason why I found it.

Thank you I will read it -- I glanced at it an tell it will be worth the time.

I'll try the new promote link -- Check out my blog, I just finished my first round of research.
