The Steemit Panel at Denver Comic Con!

We had so much fun today
talking about Steemit at Denver Comic Con!

Amanda (@amrauthor) moderated our panel and had each of us introduce ourselves. She then directed the hour-long discussion and helped our exchanges with the audience go smoothly!

Vince (@falseyedols) discussed how he's monetizing his music on Steemit. He explained how Dsound works and shared how he's been successful using it. I touched on how I've serialized poetry and fiction here, and that I'm now producing an ongoing series of venn diagrams showing the overlap of big business and big government.

And Jim (@lpfaust) pretty much covered everything else: the basics of blockchain and cryptocurrency, and how the Steemit platform works in an easy-to-understand nutshell. He was able to translate lots of tech stuff down into digestible bytes of information that really engaged the audience.

Speaking of which, we had a nice group assembled who were very curious about Steemit and had many questions! We tried to give them a breakdown, not only of how posting and payouts work, but how we all use various dapps on the blockchain. We also mentioned using Discord to create communities and to network with other Steemians.

I mentioned my involvement with both the City of Neoxian (hosted by @neoxian) and the Isle of Write. Regarding the Isle, I talked specifically about how the server is segmented into various channels pertaining to fiction, non-fiction, poetry, screenwriting (there's several) and their associated writing workshops, facilitated through Google docs. This was especially pertinent to Denver Comic Con as the event is held in conjunction with Booktopia, a Denver literary conference. So not only were members of our audience interested in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency... they were also writers!

Jim and Vince will likely recap our panel discussion on their Voices of the Mountains radio show this evening at 3 am UTC on MSP Waves. Hop on PALnet to listen in!

Many thanks to Amanda for organizing such a fun time!

That is very cool @geke!
Awesome that you and the panel are spreading the steemit word in a constructive way. I think once the cryptomarket picks back up there will be tons of further interest in our platform :)

We talked about that a little today... we all decided patience is warranted. 😃

Wow, this is soo cool. I am excited to have more and more event like this. We spend so much time online that having the opportunity to talk to other about that are interested would be such a treat.

I think we'll see more and more of these events, too!

Looks like it was fun. Was it a one day event?

I hadn't thought of a comic con as a place to promote steem but sounds like it was a good fit.

It's a three-day event! And yeah, it was a lot of fun!

It was such a blast, and great to meet you!!! I've never been to a Comic Con, and I think it was a great experience. The people had some good questions and seemed very interested.

Given my long history with the local anime conventions, it's a wonder I didn't think of that myself!

Highly rEsteemed!

And Followed!
