Is Steemit censorproof?

in #steemit8 years ago

I believe I remember hearing that Steemit is not or can not be censored. Could someone comment on that as I see trends towards removing alternate media from Twitter, Facebook etc using the flimsy excuse that it is somehow Russian propaganda? I am so sick of censorship. Let the people themselves decide what they view. So does Steemit have any centralised group that controls it?

Sort:

STEEM blockchain is censorproof. Steemit is an application on top of STEEM blockchain. Posts that show in steemit can be flagged down so it's hard to see them but those posts can still be seen in STEEM blockchain.

If post in steemit is removed, it can still be found in STEEM blockchain. You can see the blockchain from this link https://steemd.com/

This post's url is https://steemit.com/steemit/@freedomrings/is-steemit-censorproof
if you change steemit.com to steemd.com you can see this post in blockchain

The blockchain could - theoretically - be censored if the majority agrees, as with any other blockchain, to an alternative version.

In reality thats extremely unlikely.

In that case censoring even one single post would require hard fork that changes blockchain version for everyone. Nobody wants to make a suicide. This isn't any presidential election where money rules over public choice with the help of corrupted media manipulation.

thanks that was very helpful

ok thanks that was very helpful so all posts to steemit are permenantly recorded on a blockchain and in that sense it is censorproof
