In this post

someone asks if the blockchain is censorproof.
The practical answer is: Yes, even when there is a theoretical possibility. Anyway...

Reading this I had an idea: Isn't the blockchain like the cultural history of mankind?

Just compare: We build knowledge by using what our ancestors discovered. Like the blockchain we build one block after the other. And what that wisdom is, is decided by consensus (and sometimes an older consensus get overwritten by a newer one, a fork if you want).

One philosopher builds on the works and texts of the one before him, adding his own share. One book references older ones, like the $ numbers of the accounts on the chain and their transfers.

Even the censorproof question as similarities. Is it possible to censor world history? To change "what has happened"?
Yes it is. Because there were only a few witnesses in most cases - at least only a few writing it down. And most of them were under influence of the rulers.

But there were also things that could theoretical be lies, but in every practical meaning that is extremely unlikely. Take Platon. Is all what he wrote a lie? Possible. But for that you would have to fake not only the writings itself but centuries of other writings too that quote him and are influenced by him. Platon a fake? The person might be. But the text? Invention of 8th century? Impossible.
You can be sure of it because there were literally millions of witnesses of the text, lots of them writing their own thoughts about it down into the cultural blockchain.

You see, culture is a blockchain and we all are the nodes and witnesses.
