SEO-Friendly URLs for Steemit blog posts

An SEO-Friendly URL Structure is important

As you can see they are important. So it is recommended to do the following to have a good URL structures:

• Use short URLs, they rank higher
• Keyword optimization: Use 1 or 2 words only per URL
• Make your URLS readable by humans

So do that. But how to do it here on Steemit? Thats what I am going to show you because I found it by accident this little simple trick.

If you want to have a nice clean short url for your blog posts, do the following. When you write a new blog post, write 1 or 2 keywords in the title field of the new post. Also write some example text in the description and also the tags. Then press post.

After you press post, your new blog post will have the URL structure from the 2 keywords you added on the post's title, like this:

Right after that very quickly you have to edit you new post, add your final texts and press 'save' again.

I recommend that you do this very fast and add the final blog post title, blog description contents and tags right after the moment you create the post with friendly URL. To avoid anybody visiting your post in a state that is not the final one.

I think it is important to have written down already your final blog post before you do the friendly URL trick to avoid loosing time and being able to edit the article very quickly with final contents.

The tip I am giving is only to be done to achieve a nice SEO friendly URL on your blog. I have done this on one of my articles:

Friendly URL for blog: https://steemit.com/dogs/@felipesuarez/happynationaldogday
Final title of the post: Happy National Dog Day! - NationalDogDay - Adopt a friend!

and as you can see the url keywords are different than the blog post title because I did this trick. If I had added the final title and pressed saved, this would have created a very long URL for that text (like on my first post ). So instead , I prefer having a short one, what do you think?

This tip together with general SEO standards will improve you chances of ranking content well for Google and you will notice this with time. Its always a good idea to invest in SEO with good practices and I believe this trick does not hurt.

Like I mentioned before, be sure to have your article written down already before you first save the keywords in the first post save. You want to avoid indexing in the steemit search with the incorrect post title.
