Becoming a Sndbox Fellow

I remember back in June seeing the announcement of the STEEM Park project. Two Steemians, @voronoi and @hansikhouse, published a Steemit post detailing the project proposal and timeline to renovate a park in Brooklyn. The Steem payout from the post would go towards funding the project. From that initial post alone, they raised nearly $500.

STEEM Park showed me that Steemit is for more than just "getting paid to blog". It's rewarding creators for what they create. And it's fundraising for creators to create what they want to create.

After STEEM Park, @voronoi and @hansikhouse launched @sndbox, a "multimedia incubator that utilizes blockchain technology to empower impactful and creative projects worldwide." This was also an awesome project tackling Steemit's biggest issues - curation and community.

Steemit's UI is flawed. People really only look at the "Hot" tab for any given tag, making the top posts stay at the top. Unknown authors are often discouraged because their posts have no chance to being discovered unless someone is actively searching through the "New" tab.

I always believed that the solution to this is "publications" centered around topics that curate posts from lesser-known authors, like Medium's publications. Sndbox is doing just that and is taking it even further by curating entire communities in Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Nigeria.

Sndbox is also launching more creative Steem projects. A month or so ago, Sndbox and @phillyhistory announced the First Steem-Powered University Course. I had also just finished a very similar project last semester where I gave a lecture on Steem with the aid of Steem.

I liked that I was thinking on the same wavelength as Sndbox. I never thought I'd be a part of it, though. It wasn't until late one all nighter when I was telling my friend about Sndbox for the upteenth time and they said "Just go join Sndbox already!" Thus, I decided to bring life back to my Steemit blog and apply. With the help of Sndbox, I would be able to continue doing and promoting creative uses of Steem.

And with that, I am excited to announce that I am now a Sndbox Fellow!
