Improving Steemit With Baby Steps Part 8: Official Android Support

Java is the official programming language of Android. 80% of the world's phone sales are running Android these days. If Steemit wants to reach the most people possible we need official Android/Java support. What better way to engage in decentralization than to interface with everyone's phone?

There is unofficial Steem/Java support @SteemJ by @dez1337, but it needs optimization, upkeep, and innovation. Also, when comments/posts are created using @steemj an upvote percentage is sent to @steemj. Being "forced" into giving @dez1337 a beneficiary tax for doing this work is pretty ridiculous.

Code like this should be (and is) open source and free. Anyone can go in there and remove the tax. Essentially charging people to use Android/Java is really really bad idea. It stifles creativity and innovation, which is why we see that the vast majority of programming languages are free to use and distribute.

Instead I think the Steemit team needs to hire a code-monkey to take over the project and pay @dez1337 off for his troubles. Whatever you think is fair. The more we give our coders to create open-source content the more intensive they have to do so.

The faster we can connect the vast network of Android users to Steem, the better. We are on the verge of being able to break away from the broken corporate world and form our own businesses right here on The Blockchain. Let's get to work, Steem Team!
