Steemit as a lesson in impermanence
Steemit is written on a blockchain, so as long as data lasts, so does steemit. But stories quickly fade from view, like footprints on a beach.
I am slowly clarifying where I want to go with the #steemofconsciousness idea. But sometimes, like today, I find myself hitting a bump in the road. Or being swallowed by the enormous crack in the footpath that I really should have seen before I was in it.
Today that hole is full of impermanence (isn't everything? - a little joke for the Buddhists amongst us there..).
The problem is this: steemit stores information forever. You just can't retrieve it.
At least not easily.
I have written on this particular subject before - see https://steemit.com/steemit/@drwom/the-need-for-story-chains-on-steemit-revisited and have even come up with a personal solution (although I am advised that is not a workaround that can be adopted broadly):
https://steemit.com/steemography/@drwom/track-your-original-content-through-the-steemography-hashtag-drwom-ograhy-1-74-days (I've got to say here that it is working extremely well for me!)
So today, I have found another approach to consider: the steemit story as mandala.
Mandalas, (you may have heard of sand mandalas, or even witnessed the precision with which they are created) are used in the Vajrayana practices of Tibetan Buddhism. Amazing mandalas, in minute detail, are created over a period of days - only to be swept away at the end of the rite.
So maybe we should think about our pieces as impermanent...
There you go - two solutions to the problem of writing awesome steemit pieces, only to see them disappear within days - and certainly after seven days - beneath the steeming sea of incoming posts.
I'd love to hear any other solutions you may have come up with!

Hey Video - thanks for your post
I'll have to check it out - I can't watch it in Australia through Youtube...
Cheers😊
that sucks, I did not know they restricted access by region. What a bile of rubbish.
I will extract the scene and upload on dTube.video. thank you for notifying me

Wonderful Post//////////
I flow steemit .....Thanks
Interesting thoughts, @drwom. However, for your followers, your creations linger a bit longer in time. In fact, if someone really enjoys your writing, they will often go through your post history looking for more gems.
Also, as Steemit comes up with a better way to classify and search for articles, this issue of impermanence might be soothed a bit ;-)
