Some Words About my Necessary New Voting Practices and Honoring a Veteran of this Site
All Photos in this post were taken at my parent's house- Back yard, front yard, side yard, beach...my inspirational place, and where my muse most frequently visits.
It has been eighteen days since HF19 came along to first excite than deflate the community. I'm generally not a downer, in fact most would describe me as a very positive optimist. But I have to say the whole power drainage has been a drain on me.
I'm not even sure if I have ever voted on a post at less than a hundred percent until recently. Comments I've adjusted, but not posts. I like to make people smile, and I keep worrying that if someone looks in their steemd account and sees a vote from me at a lower percentage it's going to be disheartening.
But I have finally had to bow to the slider, since I've found myself voting on less and less people in order to keep my power from tanking. There are so many great posts out there, it's a crime for me to keep passing them by.
But I've felt so bad about it that I decided it was necessary to make a post, to let every one of my beloved friends on this site know that your articles, your art, your stories, your music, your images and every creative endeavor are all one hundred percent vote worthy in my heart. And I wish I didn't have to put them at anything less.
But from now on, my average votes will be somewhere around 10-30%. When possible I will give more, and if unavoidable I will give less. But what is important to me right now is that I give something.
It's unfortunate that the price of steem had to go down at this particular juncture, and more unfortunate that predictions are taking it down even further over the next month.
But don't lose heart! We might have a bit of a struggle coming our way, but I have 'been shown the future', and after this bit of a slump we are going to go up...and up..and up! In fact I have it on good authority that by this time next year we could very well be looking at Five dollars a token. And not by a stretch of the imagination, rather some very intelligent individuals whom I have found to be eerily accurate on their predictions of such things. And these same individuals believe that it could increase to as much as FIFTY PER in three to five years!
Remember you heard it from me first!
It is my intention to do two different promotion posts every week or two, one for newbies who have stood out, and one for veterans who continue to stand out after all this time.

@merej99 became known to me a few weeks after my arrival in late November. I had managed to fly under her radar initially, but once she discovered me I felt as though someone had brought out a spotlight and shined it on my fledgling blog.
For those who do not know her, she is best described as the community altruist, beginning a Pay-It-Forward initiative designed to raise money for members of the community in need.
The latest in her long line of fundraisers can be found here: for a well-deserving steemian who has been having a difficult time- @girlbeforemirror. I urge everyone who has yet to learn her story to do so now, worthy of every dollar raised and more, this courageous woman is a testament to mankind.
In addition to her fundraising, @merej99 is an avid steemit enthusiast who will do all she can to make this site the best it can be. A great example of this is her recent challenge It's official start date is today, and there is money to be won, so if you haven't seen it yet, you should check it out pronto. (Or not, since I stand to win a lot more if you stay out of it..!)
And these things outline who she is in the community, but who she is to me is an amazing friend.
There are some people whom I have met here that have made every moment of my time spent worthwhile. Even if the predictions I made above, which I wholeheartedly believe, do not turn out to be true, even if this ship sinks instead of becoming the spaceship to the moon that I foresee, I wouldn't regret a single moment because of friends like her.

Incredible photography. Especially the ones with the fire-lit skies. Inspirational, mesmerising and beautiful.
As far as HF19 goes, yes, I agree completely. It will take some getting used to. But it's fine! Steemit is an evolving platform and is still in the throes of big changes from time to time. People are naturally resist to change (myself included), but stay positive. I'm sure nobody will take it the wrong way if percentage votes are implemented by us all. After all, they will be forced to do the same also. And it's something we will all simply get used to over time.
Remember not too long ago when holding thousands of steempower only garnered a one cent upvote? I hope you'll agree, it's such a blessing we aren't still in those times! And they weren't actually that long ago. :)
Don't worry, you are one of the nicest people on here. So genuine and caring. There is no way anybody could take anything you say or do, to heart. This platform will grow to an immeasurable size one day. I have total faith in that vision. And I'm blessed I have such awesome people like yourself to share that journey with. :)

Actually I feel so much better after writing that post, letting everyone know where I stand with it was the right decision.

Good tears! Happy tears. It's really people like you and so many others who look beyond themselves. I pray for those token predictions but I don't live by them. You and I will be in life rafts throwing lines out to people so they don't disappear. We've been through that already and stayed community strong. Anyone who says this is "just a blogging platform" is missing out on a beautiful thing when they don't engage in amazing people like you. I love you back!

Dang, I definitely wrote a long thing pertaining to us in the rafts...I better look down the page and make sure I didn't respond to someone else with it, a confused face would definitely be on the other side of that screen haha!
We are definitely on this ride for the duration. Like the Titanic, we'll be holding hands and singing as it goes under lol!
Wonderful picture, sis! I think this is your best set yet :D The voting power change really forced me to reevaluate my vote. I've still set my autovotes to vote 100% on all my friends, but I have suspended my other trail voters. Now, I only ever vote on posts who I feel really deserves it. Sometimes I break above a dollar, but most of the time it's still stronger than any of my previous votes. It's going to take a long adjustment period, but I do hope the change is for the positive.

Not long ago Steem was worth 15 cents and my upvotes at 100% were worth 3/10th of a cent.
So although for a few days after hardfork 19 we were loaded, we are still not doing too bad right now!
You really are loaded and one of your votes at 30% would make anyone's day.
Even this guy who I was watching down at the beach taking selfies!

Where are you reading the Steemit price predictions?
Actually, it's my hubby and two of his friends who do non-stop crypto research, constantly on top of everything, trading and mining new coins etc-
it's related to bitcoin and other alt coins and how they're doing which effects how steem is doing etc. etc. Howie was within a week of the first big price drop, and about the same for the jump. This time around he sees a likely drop August to September (though he's not entirely certain, it could actually go the other way) but once it recovers, or even if it doesn't tank, it will climb steadily. There will be more of the ups and downs in minor ways throughout the year, but unless a Utopian steemesque like platform shows up between now and this time next year (steemit minus the problems...lol! I'll hedge my bets, that place could not contain actual people ;) that' where it's going. But I should know more particular details as we chug along. I have never wanted to chant my predictions from a megaphone (or rather Howie's) because there is always a chance, however slim, he could be wrong. But it's damn slim :)

Deb and I have invested in 10 cryptos and are going for the ride. We figure at least one of them will become the next big thing.
My own favourite is Dash ( that could just be because of Amanda), but we have done best on my least favourite - Ripple.
I recommend BATS. It's not anyone's favorite..well, I'm sure it's someone's, but it's not a typical favorite. However Howie has been riveted by its real world applications since he learned about it. He says it could greatly disrupt the current advertising industry, something that will come to fruition in the early part of 2018. It's one of the few tokens that has a real world application, like steemit.
Anyway, not telling you to put your life's savings in it, but it wouldn't hurt to grab a few while they're cheap :)

We all have to make these hard choices now. But it comforts me that even a 25% vote from me now is still better than a 100% vote from me before. And with so many newbies on board, its nice to be able to encourage some of them, which stretches the voting power even further! But I have faith in Steemit and still fully trust that for those of us who keep working , posting, commenting, and voting, that the platform will be stronger and better in the end.

I feel what you are saying here. I am struggling to keep my voting power over fifty percent and it hurts to give lower votes but I have just had to do that I can keep my vp add being worth something. I hate the idea of someone on steemdb as well taking the hump when the see a low vote but it has to be done.

I'm thinking that by now everyone is in the same position (except the new people who have not yet experienced the slider ;) and they're having the same difficulties. Meaning they most likely understand :)

I don't yet know the misery of using a slider for voting, but I do see whatever little power I have is waaay slow coming back to full strength. I like the second to the last photo with the tree on the left, good composition.

And I agree, the changes are very hard on the voting thing. I've always striven to vote at 100%, no matter what, and whichever direction you choose now, always feels like a let-down to folks. Stay high, lose all your power. Vote low..."what's up with that?" Guess we just do the best we can, until things change. The only thing constant is change, I suppose.

Howdy. It's always nice to hear from you. And I know what you mean about crazy busy. It is SO hard to keep up, especially in the summer. Too much else going on. I finally made a list of people to visit, as the feed is near on impossible now with tons of people and re-steems. I almost wish they would go back to one post a day. Aim for quality over quantity. I realize that's not what the intent is, so I will not whine anymore here. But the only way I can keep up (right) is to go directly to people's sites. And that's suspect as well. As you say, it will all work out in the end. Have a nice night.
There are a lot of things to comment on here. @merej99 has definitely made me feel welcome on the platform. Her ability to reach out to newbies and make them feel welcome is second to none.
Your parents place looks amazing. I am from Ontario Canada and it reminds me of Cottage country around here. No need to go away on vacation with views like that!
As for voting power. I don't have alot of it yet so I am still leaving it set to 100% and just making sure that I pick great posts to vote on.

I have so much to learn about voting power and voting strength and all that...I wouldn't even know where to begin to look to change that! My votes are only worth about 2 cents right now so maybe I will worry about that later if I am ever worth more...ha! @merej99 is extremely worthy of the highlight! I was lucky to find her early on and look to her posts for guidance often. Thanks for highlighting both new and old! Will definitely be following along as you continue this series.
If you don't have over a thousand sp than you don't have a way to alter your votes yet, lol, it makes life much easier!! When you reach that marker you'll receive a bar that shows up when you vote.
