Post Payouts dropping rapidly! (Negative effect of HF19 #1)

in #steemit7 years ago

So you probably noticed that your posts payouts are dropping really fast in the last few days, here is why i think this is happening:

HF19 was suppose to encourage new users by giving they a more equal power and reward, but looks like it long effect is getting negative, this (in my opinion) is happening because old users (dolphins and curators) are posting significantly more and curating less in order to get even more reward.

This is natural, they suddenly see their post payout pump and they figure: "hey, now i should make more posts instead of curating!", i don't have any stats about this, but could be interesting see if this is a real effect.

Of course there is the possibility that the payout drop is due to the steem going down, but it doesn't seem to be the case, i mean, some posts have lost up to 25% of they initial payout in 2 or 3 days, and average price of steem haven't dropped that much, there must be other reasons...

So, more posts, more voting power, same reward pool, it is naturally that the payouts will drop and we probably will end at the same place before HF19, posts with a lot of upvotes and only 0,x$ payouts for minnows, keep relaying on whales to drop a bone and make a couple of $...

So, this is just an idea of what happening, what do you think?, why are the payouts dropping this fast?, leave your opinion!

Best regards!
Rafael.

It has to be the price of steem, I made a post 6 days ago, the potential payout was $21 dollars, now its down to $15. the price in the market of steem when it first posted it was around 2.10 today the price is at 1.70. I also noticed voting power taking very long to come back to 100%, it took me like 3 days to come back from 50% voting power.

I thought its the price of steem too, but doesn't make sense... Average price have not dropped that much, but payout have dropped over 25%...

My largest posts lost over 30% too. I had a feeling it was related to the fork. In this for the long haul though.

Maybe not to the fork directly, but to its consequences, a reaction on the users behavior...

I didn't particularly notice a big drop. Only a couple of cents. But I was never gifted large payouts so I'd probably be the last to notice it.

It have been dropping a lot, one of my posts lost more than 10$ in only 2 days...

I think it's a combo of both price drop and the fork. Thanks for sharing & steem on :)

i also think this is a negative effect of hf19, i had a post worth 34$ and after 6 days ir was 24$

Yep, its happening all over...

I had one payout that started at $120, and now it's done to $80 with 4 days left to go.

Yes, its very dramatic...

just noticed that lol

Yep, you are not alone in this!, payouts are dropping like crazy for everyone...

I believe it is much less related to the fork as it is to the global alt coin market right now. The reasons for alts dropping right now is complex...the simplest way to see it is....there is no other way but down to go in a market that has risen so much so quickly. Don't worry....it won't stay that way. Its just breathing in for the first time in a while!!!

Yep, but the steem haven't dropped that much, at least not as much as the payouts...

really? are we looking at the same data???

I do believe that what you are saying is playing a roll.... I just don't think its the dominant factor here. Of course...I have been wrong at least once before in my life...LOL!!

hi man , I had 306 dollar on one of my posts till now its become 244 dollar but I read about this and here is a link you can see why this happend https://steemit.com/payout/@timcliff/everything-you-need-to-know-about-potential-payouts-and-flagging-for-new-users

I followed you , If you like check my musics too , thank you.

If other posts receive more upvotes, the potential payout of the post can go down. << that pretty much explain it all and give my initial idea a valid argument, there have been many new posts done, so the reward pool is split into more parts and the payout goes down... Simple logic: More posts with bigger initial payouts, the rest of the payouts must go down since its the same reward pool, and beside of that the price of steem do have drop a little...

do you think it's good ? their plan ? I think they should find a better way and change it.

For the moment we still need to wait and see how it works in the long term... They probably will keep looking to improve the system, for now seems like everything is getting back to "normal"(as it was before HF19) anyway so, not big deal...

well I wish it becomes better .
