Do you think steemit is good enough ?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

After reading some posts today I realized that we need to improve steemit much more.

I see a lot of things in steemit which I don't like that much. Everyone is crazy about earning and not a lot of people care about the community and interaction. But usually people who care a lot about earning don't earn a lot and this is the paradox.

If we check hot posts there and look for posts that earn more without buying upvotes, but completely natural, we will see that the post is really useful for the community and not just for the sake of posting. Usually those are people who joined steemit in the beginning and exactly in the year 2016. Those people are already earning good money and they don't think about it that much, but just share and have fun.

But not all those people are perfect. I think if you are writing about something good for the community, you have to interact with it. I especially like people who reply to all comments. That's why I always try to read all the comments I receive and to reply all of them. I think if we reply to all comments, we will have more followers and more activity which leads to more earning.

We don't have to care that much about earning to earn.

As you see above, we have a little ''beta'' under the logo of steemit. Some people are even saying that steemit is just an experiment. So it can be good or not. It's for you to decide. If we all work together to improve it and improve our interaction with people here, it will be much better, it will be just huge. It's after all a social network and not just a tool to make money.

So, do you think steemit is good enough ?

Not yet, I think. I think we need to have here a strict moderators who will control everything. We have @steemcleaners and we have @cheetah , but it's not really enough for us. They can't do all the work for us ! It's so hard and they already have long blacklists. That's why we have to help them and the community to make steemit a better place.

If every single one of us educates his followers by showing what is good and what is not, the effect will be much better. When I see someone spamming or stealing content, I don't flag him right away. I give him a chance and tell him in the comments that he shouldn't have to do that, maybe he will understand. I always have hope. But if he keeps doing that, I just mute him and never hear from him again.

We have to show newcommers how to deal with steemit, they are new and they trust us. Don't tell them just to comment everywhere and to upvote and resteem everybody. It will not work for them. Let them know that they have to write good quality posts. Let them spend more time learning rather than writing. If they learn that much, they will be more productive and more useful to all of us.

When you visit the hot posts, don't think how to take the profit from the guys writing it. But all you have to think about is how to be like them. Take a look at their comments. You will see that their comments are always related to the topic of the post. You will see that their tags are also related to their post. You will see the quality of the post and you will feel how much time they spent to write it.

Learn also from those people from their wallets. The wallet can tell you a lot about the person. You can even see what he's writing to others in private, but it's not private at all. You can see how the person is spending his money and from who he is recieving and even for what. So you will understand the person, what he is doing, what contests he is participating in, where he invests his earning from steemit.

Steemit is the best succesful decentralized social network. Here you can understand people much better than in other places. Understanding people will make you understand yourself. It also makes you understand the whole community and what they need from you. Think well before you post something. Take your time, nobody is running after you. Relax. ☺

What do you think we have to do to make steemit better ?

Sort:

The idea is to not have moderators. The idea is the community downvotes shitposts. I don't want censorship I certainly here to get away from that

the problem is when we downvote someone it leads to a war, they begin to ask their followrs to downvote you even if your post is good, they will find a wealthy whale from their country do ruin the reputation, this is what we all afraid off, look at @haejin for example, he is posting good content, not spam, all original posts but he is attacked by downvoters just because he earn a lot, I am now even afraid to earn a lot in steemit, you see the situation, this why I think we need strict moderators that will do everything fair.

You're so nice for commenting on this post. For that, I gave you a vote!

Haijin has one follower whose account that does nothing but upvote him with a massive upvote. It seems suspicious to me.

I will not discuss that topic but I think what's the problem if someone always upvote you, I have a lot of people upvoting almost all my posts, so what is it suspicious also ? I just worked for that and deserved that because I did a lot for that, any person can have people that always upvote him and I don't see anything wrong about that.

One thing I see so much in the promotion groups on Facebook is this rampant “follow for follow” and “upvote for upvote” attitude prevailing among newer users.

Steemit is not Facebook. It is not Instagram. So many people are conditioned to the world of F4F that many are trying to bring that to Steemit...I think these people think they’re supporting each other, but I think it’s quite the opposite.

Steemit is about finding your community and digging into it. Sure, there are Steemit Celebrities out there (most who earned such titles by simply calling themselves Steemit celebrities long enough that they became one), but it’s really about the content.

I joined in October of 2016. I have used the earnings from my Steemit account to pay bills and essentiallly survive as I am a professional musician, and Steemit has really helped during those hard or slow times.

However, I feel that I worked for my Followers. I engage people in conversation in the comments, I answer questions, I ask questions, I converse with others in their comments.

It’s all about value here. Not in a monetary sense, but a higher sense. The true value of a post is not just whether or not you like it, but also whether or not you think it is quality...and that’s been the biggest roadblock with the surge of new users and trying to explain the difference between a Like and an Upvote. They value different things.

Great post. I thought the headline was a little shocking, as of course everything can be improved upon, but after reading the article, you have some great ideas here. Best of luck! Cheers! :)

Thanks for this amazing support, about facebook yes I hate that and I saw what is happening there, and this why I converted my facebook group with more than 18000 members to change the situation. Now my group is not free because I work hard to make people there follow the rules by not spamming or asking for upvotes or follows or whatever but I organized there very well and I try to help new people by shoing the best way to grow in steemit and if they will follow my rules step by step they will successed for sure. Here is the idea and the consept of the group : Steemit for resteem group rules.

If you want to be a participante in that you are welcome, because have also a kind of partnership, here are the details of that : Earn 30% with the group ↕

My group is organized there and if someone will post there he will never get comments from others because I turn off comments to any post there and always check if they are resteming each other and following the rules of steemit and the group or not.

Very nice while helping each other worked excellently

yes we get knowledge from here read intersting blogs in spare time from here

Well, I agree with you I have just started seeing steemit and I am learning it slowly!!I have seen both person, the one who is just commenting and trying to get attention while other focusing on relations!!Well, I am too involve in a question on how to actually bring my thoughts to the people!!Its not always about earning but to spread my words till now I am not that successful Yet!! I think its about consistency and growing steemit is all upon us !!The choice is ours !!

You are right, we just have to spread our words here, people whant to know more interesting people, it's all about the story, instead of that post button we had before ''submit a story'' , I don't know why the steemit team decided to change it to ''post'', but I like the old button more. So everyone have to tell his story here, I think.

Very informative. I'll surely resteem this for my amazing followers to learn too.

Thanks a lot !

yeah Strongly agree with you. as I can say that It depends upon on a person intent. If you are working honestly here. sure you will get both success and rewards. anyhow valuable wording. keep sharing your ideas like that. stay blessed <3

thanks for the support :)

My Pleasure Dear

this post really helps. thank you. i have so many questions and i am trying to learn everyday. i try to write quality post and I do try to understand how it all works. Then i read post about how others are using bots and how a group of whales are kind of stealing our steem dollars it is scary. i came to steem not to make money so much but to find a new community that is based in a very positive light. I feel like i am not learning quick enough and i feel like i am pressuring myself to write , write, write... when I do that i feel like i am doing it not for content but to meet my quota. I feel i am spreading myself a bit thin and in doing that i think the quality of my post suffers. Just know I am trying to follow the rules to stay in this group and to provide a positive uptake to our growing community. I just hope I do not let any of us down due to my ignorance. I hope we all have enough today.

it's ok you just need some time, when I was new I was like you, swiming in this ocean without knowing my direction, but now I feel that I am in the river so stick with me and you will not drown. ☺

I totally agree with you that good earning comes from good content and great interaction with the community.

There are so many channels which can use to interact like discors and steem chat.

But when newbies join, they are overwhelmed by information and see the sea of possibilities that they choose the easiest way and this is not going to make the platform better.

To think of a solution is a tough one as if there are too many controls, imagination might stop flowing into the platform and stifle innovation.

Btw great animation of the steemit logo. Can I use it and put you as reference XD

of course but it's not mine, I just found it in google, maybe I am ricking putting it here but I am a bad designer this why I use gifs of others I think if you copy the link of the animation you will see the source there.

There is a debate about buying upvotes though not everybody opposing it directly. We can think it about investing money to promote a good post. But I have seen some people are getting big upvotes for a nonsense comment and getting huge upvote which actually not worth it. In that case, downvote might be handy.
But it is also true, one downvote will bring war. We all see such war in our timeline time to time. That is scary for the small users like us.
Interaction is the key factor to build a network. It should be practised.

Yes I also don't see any harm buying upvotes, I am also doing that because I belive in investment. But sometimes I like to get free upvotes this why I try to support the quality. Those who upvote nonsense comment buy buying upvotes for that I think are just losing their money for nothing, most smart people in steemit just mute them and never see never from them. The thing that I hope for is to make moderators on steemit to block such users because they just don't deserve to be here.
