Monetary systems, including those enabled by the blockchain, play a vital role in society as our primary means of resource exchange.
Digital currency technologies, like Steem, are innovations that fundamentally change how we can recognize, understand, and address economic challenges like wealth inequality. The emergence and the development of digital currencies fundamentally challenge the cost of providing economic support to at-risk communities through the development of affordable microtransactions.
The economic potential of ecosystems like Steem is greater in emerging economies, where individuals and families struggle to meet their very basic needs. I believe Steemit provides a [significantly underappreciated] key innovation - proof-of-brain - which recognizes the inherent potential of individuals as (1) a thinking and conscious being, as opposed to the reduction of individuals to (2) a basic actor supporting market-driven productivity. The difference may not be clear, but the first option views you as a living, breathing human being, whereas the second option views you as a cog in a machine. The first option grants you the ability to express our unique subjective values, and the second only recognizes your objective productive value - or economic output.
You're not a cog in a machine, you're a unique and significant individual in a world with varied and diverse perspectives.

the only thing we need to improve is the society, we need to mature and stop seeing everything just by its financial value, there's a lot of profitable way beyond this if we can grow up.
Our community here is a reflection, or microcosm, of the external community. If we can solve some of these social challenges internally, maybe we will find that external communities can benefit as well.
I agree! Anyway, we're growing, tho it might not in favorable pace, but I believe we will eventually achieve it. I'm glad there's still enough people care about this.

I think Steem can help so many people and communities ! It is without fees and instant, just a simple thing like transferring money from a country to another is so easier.
A lot of poor countries have diaspora in richer ones where they have relatives working and sending money back to « home ». One of the only secure way they know how to do it is through Wester Union, they charge up to 15% in commissions !
Imagine if they had steem accounts ?
If the Steem community came together on this, we could market the platform as a free-alternative to WU and other money transfer services. We would need how to figure out how to build an interface for the platform for this type of transaction, but I think it's doable.

due to the ever growing number of users on steemit, it has created a global awareness of the coin and though we are not there yet in terms of even global use of cryptocurrency we will certainly get there in the next 3 years. the point is that with more people in steemit accompanied with a stable price that is reasonable and the ability to create wealth on steem, we will be able to eradicate poverty and have a global community devoid of paper cash
I agree. I think price stability is the first of our challenges. The second is building trust as a technology and community.
