For the past few weeks, several DDos attack was suffered by steemit. These are the times that whenever we tried to log-in in steemit, the page didn't load automatically and it appears to be some errors showing to the site and appearing to be down. Sometimes it took several hours in getting back to normal. 

Why these things happening in steemit? Is DDos attack a threat? Does steemit will goin down? How could this things happen? what is a DDos ? Things you got in mind possibly.

DDos

 DDoS is short for Distributed Denial of Service. DDoS is a type of DOS attack where multiple compromised systems, which are often infected with a Trojan, are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS) attack. Victims of a DDoS attack consist of both the end targeted system and all systems maliciously used and controlled by the hacker in the distributed attack. 

How DDoS Attacks Work

In a DDoS attack, the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources – potentially hundreds of thousands or more. This effectively makes it impossible to stop the attack simply by blocking a single IP address; plus, it is very difficult to distinguish legitimate user traffic from attack traffic when spread across so many points of origin 

 

The Difference Between DoS and DDos Attacks

A Denial of Service (DOS) attack is different from a DDoS attack. The DoS attack typically uses one computer and one Internet connection to flood a targeted system or resource. The DDoS attack uses multiple computers and Internet connections to flood the targeted resource. DDoS attacks are often global attacks, distributed via botnets.

Sometimes it is really a bit scary when DDos attack happens to steemit. Because without a proper knowledge about it, you simply got panic and worrying about the situation. And a life without steemit is something that bothers me overtime. Steemit is my life now. I love steemit more than any other social media sites. I get attach to it. I feel addicted to it. It made me feel FREE. Free to express my feelings, myself, my talent, my thoughts and even being the untalented side of you reveals and no cares to judge you or criticize you for what you are. Steemit is really a life-changing opportunity. Plus the earning you got for the time you spent here by posting valuable and quality content is just a bonus. What more could you ask for?

WHY DDOS ATTACK HAPPENS IN STEEMIT?

DDos attack in steemit simply means "ENEMY"

Steemit as you all know, is dramatically becoming popular as many new members have been added for the past few months. And the community is becoming bigger and stronger. The value of steemit does not come from the currency but it's from the people who build up the community.  The growth of this site is inevitably possible. 

So considering the facts above; Someone could possibly be threatened by it and spend their money trying to disrupt or discourage the people to continue patronizing the site.

PERSPECTIVE

Our stand is to put our trust to the site and hope for the best as everyone is doin' their best to maintain and protect the site from the enemy. Innovating more possible solutions to help the site stand against all the individuals behind who wants to put it down. 

Dont get scared and don"t panic like I was before. Even if steemit is down the blockchain is still intact. And there's nothing to worry cause there is other alternative way how to continue posting while the server is down. You can refer to this post :
