5 MORE Secrets for Succeeding on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

When I was yet a newbie (well, more of a newbie than I am now), I wrote a post on 5 secrets to succeeding on Steemit. Since then, I've discovered 5 new ways to succeed with Steemit. Read on for the secrets!

1. First Rule of Steemit: Talk About Steemit!

That's right, folks – when in doubt, post about Steemit! Because the thing people love hearing about most is themselves. This is true not only for people, but for cryptocurrency-based social media websites as well.

2. Befriend the Whales

If you can get a whale or two on your side, you're golden, because whale votes will get you much further than minnow votes. I mean, a whole big school of minnows – we're talking Division I, here – can help too. Or an average size pack of dolphins. In fact, there's a whole conversion ratio of whales to dolphins to minnows:

1 whale = a pack of dolphins = a school of minnows

Also, if you can get Dori to teach you how to speak whale, then things will go well.

Dori knows whale – she'll teach you

3. Sign Up Last Year

Bear with me here. This secret to Steemit involves first getting a hold of the Doctor, convincing him (or her…) to let you into the TARDIS, and then traveling back in time to the launch of Steemit. Sign up as soon as possible and then build up your audience. By the time you get back to now, YOU'LL be the whale whose vote everyone wants. Boom!

(I never said all of these secrets were practical.)

4. Win Every Contest

There are loads of contests on Steemit. Enter every one and win. Easy-peasy.

5. Work Hard, Post Daily, Interact with Others

I saved the best secret for last. Here goes: Its simple, really. Write great content, upvote others, and comment on posts that you like. It will take awhile, but in the long run it's the only way to create any lasting value on Steemit.

Great post! However, one thing I think you missed is the importance of original content. I find many people copying and pasting crypto articles or writing about the price of crypto; that is not original and will not win you much support or attention. However, writing about a particular experience you had with crypto or your weekend at a crypto conference is much more valuable. Just a thought. Cheers and Steem on!

Yes, of course! My post is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I agree with you 100%. Thanks!

go Dorie :) great post. Do you have any practical tip on how to impress Wales?

Just keep posting, just keep posting, posting, posting... :)

Simple but very true. :)
