Google Image Tools!.png

Greetings, Steemians!

Yes. I've found it. ๐Ÿ˜ฒThe Google Image Search Game Changer.

I honestly can't believe I didn't know this... it's a little embarrassing...

memoji doh.png

But, I remind myself, "There's a lot to learn out there. Take it one day at a time."

memoji i got this.png

Below you'll find some handy screenshots of me creating the cover image (above) using this newfound (to me) tool.

I actually found this info from another Steemian @mindover from a little more than a year ago. His post is still SUPER helpful. Find his post here โ˜ž ....13 Free and Legal ways to find High Quality Photos...

Now, onto the Google action.

As I'm sure you've figured out by now, Google is a website and also a verb.๐Ÿ˜

Here's a shot of Google, in all its glory... just about to search excited for me. All I have to do is click that button. Such a good Google.๐Ÿ˜

Well, looky there! Google's done it again. The definition and everything!

Screenshot (77)_LI.jpg

But we are searching images. Let's switch to that screen. Go ahead, click images.

Here we are! Now for the good stuff. Follow that RED ARROW to TOOLS. Oh, yes. Click it.

Screenshot (78)_LI.jpg

BAM!

As you can see it opened up several new little drop downs. Check those out too. They aren't to be missed. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Screenshot (80)_LI.jpg

Click on the dropdown labeled USAGE RIGHTS. Choose the one that best suits your needs. For this, I knew I was (hoping) to make money, so noncommercial was out, and I wanted to edit the image I found, so I clicked: Label for reuse with modification.

I scrolled down a touch and found this little gem:

Screenshot (74)_LI.jpg

To the right you can see that this is even labeled FREE PHOTO. You can also double check by clicking through to the site. In this case, the pic was hosted by Pixabay.com where you can easily download the original sized image. You can also simply right-click and save the image directly from Google (once you've checked it's actually free, of course). ๐Ÿค“

To finish my photo I popped over to Canva.com where you can choose the size of your image, add text and much more... for free! Check them out if you haven't already. ๐Ÿ˜

Today I was planning to try out new dimensions that should fit perfectly in the cover image thumbnail. I was given 256 x 144 pixels. I, however, wanted my pic at the top to be a little bigger, so I multiplied that by 4. Let's see if it works. Once posted, I'll come back and add in a note if I was successful. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Edit to add: It worked! WRITE THIS DOWN: 256 x 144 pixels (or any size matching that ratio) is the Perfect COVER IMAGE SIZE. You're welcome... er, techinally thank you from me to @steemitadventure who told me in chat. Thank you!

So that's it. Google Images has TOOLS.

Let me know in the comments of other free tools we can use to make our posts better. I'm always looking to expand my blogging arsenal.

Speaking of.... Don't forget to check out my new blog series ๐Ÿ˜

I didn't know this either! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Very helpful, especially the additional info on optimal resizing.

BTW, how do you put the emojis ๐Ÿ’ฅ in your title?

I always feel like I'm missing something... but then assume someone else has to have missed it too, right? I'm glad I helped ๐Ÿ˜

I use GetEmoji.com and copypastecharacter.com for everything. Specifically I've used GetEmoji in the title.

Honestly, I never even tried until I saw someone else do it... Then I had to find out how! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Good luck!๐Ÿค

This is good to know and use. I came across a post from @somethingburger about who owns your Steemit content that you may want to share as well. I am now using the info I found in his post on all my original post.
https://steemit.com/license/@somethingburger/licensing-steemit-content-who-owns-your-posts

Just my two STEEMS Worth.

Thanks for that referral to @somethingburger's post. Got it bookmarked!

That's great! I just checked it out and am a little familiar with it as I was recently searching free music to put behind my videos.

It looks like it costs as little as $5 (or I couldn't figure out how to get around the donate page).๐Ÿ˜

Do you know if I'm able to just do this once by sharing my steemit address? And then everything will fall under the same copywrite? Or is it something I will have to do over and over again?

Thanks for any insight!
๐Ÿ˜€

You would do better to post that query to @somethingburger the originator of the post, I would not want to give you bad info. I am using the . I would not mind a follow and let him know I told you about it though.
Just trying to spread the STEEMy Love.

Currently I am just using the one you can see on this post I did about an hour ago.

No worries. I'll pop over and ask. Thanks for the find!

Real good to know! Thank you so much!

๐Ÿ˜

Hey @carrieallen, do I need to site the source when I use free to reuse images? I have been, but now re-thinking it, I'm not sure....

Even if we modify them its good to cite the original source...?

You don't NEED to, but I would just to be safe.

Honestly, a LOT of people just don't.

I tend to read an article and if the pics aren't cited I do one of two things:

  • reverse image search a pic OR
  • don't upvote cause I don't wanna take the time to check...

If it's a free image that I altered from Pixabay (or a similiar free use site)... I probably wouldn't cite it.

But... in the end, it's always best to CYA (cover your ass) and cite them. It only takes a few more seconds. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nice! I didn't know about this either! Thanks for looking out. I will be using this!

It's like a tool that sorts ALLLLL the pics. I was going to individual sites and using their search engines or doing a reverse image search to check for copy rights.

This is SO MUCH EASIER.

๐Ÿ˜

yes, well done Carrie!
I believe its also imperative to use images found this way on steemit, to avoid any copyright issues.
Thanks for sharing!

I know. I'm nuts about following rules. ๐Ÿค“

Yesterday I was curating (you know, finding the good stuff๐Ÿ˜) and came across more than a few people who literally sited "Images from Google Search" as their source.

๐Ÿ˜ฌ

My brain started to twitch...

I also found several people plagiarizing. It was a tough day.๐Ÿ˜•

But then! I found this! Perfect timing really. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Haha not as crazy as when you post an article, and then 2 seconds away you see it has been reposted exactly as is in Spanish lol
This happened to me 2 days ago, gladly mods flagged it and the plagiariser directly LOL, and it was removed.

OMG! NO way! That's totally crazy.

Someone must be following you...

Why they post in other languages anyway? Google Translate does pretty good as far as I can tell on everything. ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for the helpful post. And I thought I knew all about google..lol

I totally did too! ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿ˜œ

Thanks for the tips @carrieallen!

Still makes it tough to be a fanboy/girl about your favourite bands and their imagery...

Indeed. When in doubt, and if you REALLY want to use the image, just be sure to give credit with links and such. For bands, they mostly will WANT you to share the images, it's free advertising. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Being doing the band thing myself for awhile and I feel the same!
I just put links to their stuff\m/

Thanks again for helpful post :)

Wow, I didnt know this! Gotta try it out๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ˜„
Thank youuuu!

I'm so glad you found it! I was STOKED when I found out! Makes my blogging life, oh-so-much easier. ๐Ÿ˜€

very cool, I have wanted to make my own mems but have never really gone to the trouble of figuring out how, this makes it easy!

Have fun! And come back and show my your new Bitmoji!
