Steemit Bounty Request: Steemian "Baseball Card" Stats Page
I'd love to see a page with each user (or a customizable array of users) that you can query to get back interesting stats.
For those of you who aren't super cool Americans that love baseball like myself, baseball cards have stat sheets for each players on the back of the cards. (sorry, I love throwing nationalists tweaks whenever I can with the all the humorless anarchists on Steemit ;))
I remember growing up and memorizing these stats, because it could give you a sense of what "good" looked like, and help you understand how they got to where they are... and just as importantly where they went wrong. In hindsight, this probably developed my strong love of math, data analysis and pattern analysis.
And yes, Ryne Sandberg was one of my favorites.
I've got a huge tupperware box full of these things.
Back to Steemit Baseball Cards --
As an example -- I was admittedly baffled at this post from @sascha earning an upwards of $1.5k SBD as of time of this writing. I read it... I mean, I love warm baths with saltwater and meditation to sooth beat up muscles and sore bones as much as anyone, but it seemed excessive.
I asked "Is this something I think @sascha doesn't deserve? is there some sort of malfeasance going on here?"
And then I looked at his post history.
This dude simply resonates. He's developed a following in a very short time.
His average earnings per post (EPP) is off the charts. His Total Trending Time (T3) is probably near as good as @ned or @dantheman. Even his Comments per Post (CPP) is solid. I would highly recommend drafting this kid before he gets out of high school... wait sorry. This isn't baseball :D
So basically, I'm asking developers to be this guy in the movie 'Moneyball:
I get to be this guy:
So, if any developers out there want to earn some SBD, I'd love to see this.
Some key stats:
- Total Posts
- Total Comments
- Total Upvotes
- Total Followers
- Words per Post
- Links per Post
- Media per Post
- Earnings per Post
- Votes per Post
- Comments per Post
- Total Trending Time
- Average Votes per Minute
VPM = sum.upvotes(24h) / sum.upvotes(24h)
- Earnings per Upvote (to determine 'whale friendliness')
EPU = sum.earnings / ( sum.votes)
- User Valuation
UV = EPU / sum.followers
- Followers per Day
FPD = sum.followers / (today - user.signup)
This is awesome, I was thinking about doing a post about football cards earlier today.
I have a Jerry Rice Topps Rookie Card and wanted to see what other cool cards people might have out there.
I like your idea, It would be a great improvement to see more and do more with our "blog" pages.
I won't comment on the post payout/author deal as right now it is leaving a bitter taste in my personal mouth, and I don't want to toss out accusations etc without actually having facts. I find it odd though that certain authors pop up and every single thing they post is "gold." It doesn't compute correctly over all when looking at all accounts, but whatever ... maybe Steemit is a game to be played and the baseball card or Steemit card would be a good idea afterall
There are definite sock puppet 'dump' accounts we'll call them. I've heard it confirmed that @msgivings is one such.
Bad for the ecosystem. Just have to find a solution to it and work it out.
Yup that was an extremely obvious one, there are couple out there now too that seem obvious, however, I think they are getting a little smarter now and at least outsourcing to have someone respond to comments.
Obviously, there accounts and authors out there killing it that is well deserved, dollarvigalante, barrycooper, and ericvancewalton come to mind as they have spent years building up an audience. But the no name accounts that have posts that are highly paid from the very first post is, well a bit odd.
But if I was an investor instead of content creator I'd probably personally do what I could to grow my investement as well. Hell the 4-hour work week from Tim Ferris comes to mind, shit oursource writers for some accounts, outsource someone to run and comment on the accounts having each vote on select accounts. I mean really there are no set rules in this game of Steemit are there?
Perhaps a maxim is in order -- "content is content is content"
This is a great idea. How about some wax packs?
With gum that doubles as a stabbing implement?!
Sweeet.
I like it. I have long wanted an average sbd per post metric on steemit. But sadly the development of these stats will likely make it easier to run a curation bot.
perhaps that will make the curation bots more efficient and helpful to the ecosystem? especially if they're focusing on important things like reputation, reputation per followers, or some other metric that we discover as being a crucial component to being beneficial to the platform ?
It will and it will also open up new ways to beat the bots. I deal with this in my professional career too.
i've never considered bots as a driver of competitive natures.
hot damn. you just opened an enormous door in my head.
i would upvote you more for that if i could.
Interesting I have no idea what you mean but looking forward to seeing it in action.
Can we print them out so we can carry them around and trade with others?!
or even better, over the blockchain :)
proof of asset and existence!
I've been thinking something similar, though I was thinking of it more as a telephone book with stats and blurbs and an optional photo. A catalog of mini-introduction pieces that might even include a link to one favorite post they think is representative of their best work. A baseball card would be a fun format for it and I love the idea of seeing stats.
Fantastic concept, reminds me of my childhood!! Thank you
This is a great idea.
It would allow for some pretty good comparison too!
I'd like some stats on engagement outside a person's own posts. Something like Number of Non-post Comments, Words/Non-post Comment, Upvotes/Non-post Comment, Earnings/Non-post Comment.
