Steemit, please make an Affiliate program!

It's been posted about since the beginning of this website. Almost all major websites that are trying to secure some serious traffic are involved in affiliate marketing in some shape, way or form. Amazon's affiliate program does wonders, silly Fitness stuff makes a killin' and even dull Hostgator ads bring in some players.

The affiliate program wouldn't need much to get off the ground. There's multiple routes that could be undertaken, but I see 2 options.

This is mainly to bring in some power players (whales), celebrities and social media figures. It gives more incentive to those who have large followings to promote. More money for BOTH parties + easier signups = more cash and traffic. It's an upwards spiral.

Here we have stuff from last year:

And if you search it up, there's pages full of posts:

Hopefully it does come into realization eventually (an official one from Steemit of course).

Btw, while I've got your attention.. why does Steemit cut off my YouTube thumbnails? Any video posted here has a black bar (hence why I reuploaded my thumbnail at the top, to get better quality).

I love Steemit and hope to see it expand to great heights :)

Agreed, it would make the process of grow much faster. Anyhow it is difficult to explain new people/friends how the payment system is working. They don't believe it, while their posting their whole live on FB.

Agree with both of ya'll. I love Steemit, and wish everyone else knew about it! This would help our community grow much quicker!

There's nothing to not like about a Steemit affiliate program.

First person to comment what their favorite example of affiliate marketing is... gets a full 100% power upvote from me. It's not much (sorry my 100% is below 20% charge) but it's something! yay

Steemit does not need affiliate program, its upvote program is enough, wait a while it will blow up and will be bigger than face

Oh I definitely know Steemit will continue to grow, just I believe that this would help it grow at even faster pace. It's more so aimed at those influencers who would need more incentive.

An affiliate program would ruin steemit.I mean when i advertise steemit i do it to migrate my community and friends from crappy social media to this, and i often get asked what's in it for you and lot of people label steemit as another "pyramid scam" and wonder how curators actually get paid.I wonder how something like that would affect the reputation of steemit.Although it would be nice if it was done by the community as the ad campagne done by Jerry Banfield (Steemit doesn't have an ad campagne for a reason).

It's funny how something so simple can affect public opinion so drastically. It's like I'm at a point where I could care less about certain individuals joining Steemit, it almost feels like a hidden gem from the public. Of course I'm happy about it growing, but I just don't mind when some call it a scam and dont want to even research it. We don't need people like those here anyways..

100% this. I think it's a bad idea too

Yeah I'm honestly powering up and just keeping everything.. fuck Polo

ROFL, waht's better bittrex or bitshares DEX ?

i'm using bittrex atm

I agree with you. There are a lot of things could improve this website. Also editing the story could be more flexible with some auto image correctors, text redactors. to make blogging more easier faster and eye catchy

An affiliate programme is a good idea but I think you should get an invite code and everyone that joins via the code and actually spends bitcoin on there account the person who invited should receive up to 10%.... Unless this wouldn't work...

The % from each affiliate each time they earn something probably would be the best option if it doesn't get too OP. For example: User2 uses User1's affiliate and User1 receives 10% of User2's income. How ever if User3 uses User2's affiliate, User2 gets 10% and User1 gets 9% since he's the one who invited User2. And so on... Obviously Steemit would have to come up with some kimd of formula, but you get the drill.

That would get a little messy if U1 gets affiliate % from U3. I think it should just stop at U2 (although U1 would make less money..). It'd be hard to keep track of that

Thanks mate, I did see you comment a few times before.. please more substance.

This would be really good actually, you could drop it on your videos!

Oh of course, I'd go crazy with it ;) And eyyy I like your username, thanks to theladbible I got a bunch of Subs back in February

haha bro, i just stole it I guess. hope that isn't illegal lol

Plenty of sites do well without the circle jerk that is affiliation. Look at twitch, its affiliation program pretty much wrecked them and now Amazon is giving "partner" out like the CIA gave out Cocaine in the 80's

Could you give specific examples with Twitch?

Well in this case i was talking about the affiliation twitch had with streamers, it was a great idea in theory but after awhile in practice it became a problem for the company as a whole. If Amazon had not stepped in many agreed twitch was on its way out. I pretty much look at it in the terms of "a man cannot serve two masters".
