This post was originally a comment but i decided to make it into an article for the broader audience to see and share what others Steempeople are thinking about the issues mentioned. Comment under the post https://steemit.com/steemit/@devi1714/the-decline-of-steemit goes as follows:

'' i've got some more thoughts on Steemit after 2 months being here. Filters would be good but i can live without. Issues i see:

  • Reward pool is not increasing but nr of users are.

  • after hf19 everyone watches its voting power and sparing upvotes mostly for hot or trending post which benefits mostly whales again.

  • with hf20 talks about validity of self voting, investing in Steem Power is pointless.

  • people voting in the feed without even looking at or reading the post. which is purely 'surface-voting'.

  • it's about popularity, not quality.

  • Steem being pegged to the dollar thru Steem Dollars is subject to decrease in value with the dollar, would be different if pegged to bitcoin wouldn't it. And to cash earnings on Steemit you have to go thru the Bitcoin and with it's rising price, same amount of Steem gets you less and less Bitcoin.

Solutions? I dont't see any. Was dreaming to Steemit being my full time job one day, have been disilussioned lately. ''

I would appreciate if you share your thoughts and insights on the raised issues and your experience on Steemit so far. Thank you.

I know it is tough to make money with Steemit, especially when you are a newbie. But then it was made to be tough, or else everyone would have cashed, and no one really used it.

Keep posting and commenting and in two-three more months your Steem Power will increase, and your upvotes will have more value.

I'm actually powering down. Month ago 1000 SP gave you 1$ worth upvote. So 100SP equald 10 cents vote.I've reached almost 100SP and it gave me 2 cents worth upvote. It decreaces as nr of users increases and reward pool stays the same. So i cannot rely on building up SP for self-voting but rather on some accidental whale upvote. That's why i believe there are issues that i've mentioned in the article.

I know there are issues, but let's hope the Hard Fork 20 will bring in some changes. As of now, it has been postponed, it might take a few months till it is applied.

You've got a gift for this.

I like Steemit and will carry on using it because I enjoy it. I guess you could make a living off it but not in the first 2 months. In 2 years it may generate a decent income especially if the value of Steem rockets and you have enough followers and you put out quality content. Do think you have some valid points though @artofwisdom

if Steem value rockets, it would be more expensive to buy Steem for Steem Dollars as they're pegged to US Dollar what goes back to less and less of purchasing power of SBD/USD in time. Which means it would be more expensive and difficult with time to Power Up. And with reward pool staying the same and nr of users increasing it would mean that your Steem Power gives you less and less SBD voting value. And there goes the circle. Some serious changes are needed or it would indeed be '' The Decline of Steemit'' .

Guys seriously! Everyone is suddenly supposed to make money from this platform, but what about doing something for it? I skipped through your posts and unfortunately not even one was interesting. Yes, there are whales, problems etc, but writing something interesting is hard. That's just the way it is

i use to write articles and compile photosets, also posting 20+ post a day til i realized the same amount of cents gives me the single picture with a title. i get that philosophy is not a popular subject, but my main articles and elaborated content post were about travel. maybe i wrote when there wasn't enough followers to see it. maybe you're right and writing 'something interesting' is hard. maybe i'm not a writer. not on pop subjects anyway.

I agree not everyone is a writer. Some times even my posts do not earn much, and I claim to be a professional freelance writer.

It happens, but we need to keep on researching and commenting so that our ideas in the form of comments attract readers and hopefully we will get some powerful upvotes.

It is not about the subject that you write nor the amount of posts you make, but writing SOMETHING THAT IS interesting to people. No offense.

no offence taken, i've shared just my personal experience and that's a learning process and i do apprecciate the comments. How Steemit works, technicals, potentials, how can be improved and what's the future of it - that's another story.
