#STEEMGIGS: (TIL(Today I Learned)) — Today I Learned the Value of Time

Yeah, I know, I am past overdue the STEEMGIGS TIL (Today I Learned) Challenge. In fact, @jalasem already announced the WINNERS! Congrats to everyone who won!

But being the hardheaded that I am, still doing the TIL Challenge.

I thought I on writing about it for two reasons:

One, to UNLOAD. I am writing to express, to get this off my heart and brain.

Two, to SHARE. It might make a difference on others.

Two weeks ago, I wrote something about the dread big C. On that article, I was talking about my highschool batchmate and friend who is battling Cancer. She got pharyngeal cancer. At the time of our conversation, she was all positive. And we, her friends especially her family, are positive that she will be able to win the battle as well. It is such a good news to hear from her that she is getting well. The size of the tumor is getting smaller and smaller. But we are not to celebrate yet, not until the doctors say she is cancer-free. But still, @teardrops of happiness is looming.

Yesterday though, a sister in faith, who we thought was at the hospital only because of a sore hip, was diagnosed with cancer as well. Worst of all, doctors say the cancer is stage four, meaning the cancer spread to other parts of her body, thus the sore hip. Doctors specifically said that the cancer metastasised to her bones. The family was told to grant all her wishes and God knows until when she will live, but doctors say "no more than six months."

Six months!

Like an hourglass, every one wished and prayed it be reversed to buy out time. Like an hourglass, her time is getting closer and closer to its end.

It is heartbreaking. As her niece was relating the story to me, I couldn't help but cry with her. #teardrops.

Flashbacks of the time we have been together were all happy ones. Everyone know her a the jolly sister, the sister who laughs at the corniest jokes, the sister who was very zealous in her ministry.

There were a lot "she should have". Apparently, the cancer was kept in secret. If only she had told the family of her pains, it would have been cured at the early stages.

Six months, only six months.

With the days moving so fast, time is of the essence. I remember watching Justin Timberlake’s movie In Time where time is money and the rich could live forever. They are buying time, literally.

If only that is possible in real world. But it isn’t. So what we do with our time is very important. We should not waste our time. 

We know, have heard of the popular quote, "TIME IS GOLD". But more often than not, we do not get to appreciate or value time until we are face with such a limited time to live.
