Great Reads about Amsterdam on Steemit: what to do when in town?

in #steemfest8 years ago

If you come a few days early, or stay after SteemFest for a couple of days, or maybe during the early sunday morning, there is time to explore other parts of the city then those we attend during the program of SteemFest

In the program / map you'll receive on SteemFest we've already pointed out the following area's and must sees:

  1. De Pijp Area - Just a short tram ride south of Centraal Station takes you into one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant districts of Amsterdam.
  2. Vondelpark - The largest city park in Amsterdam, and certainly the most famous park in the Netherlands, which welcomes about 10 million visitors every year.
  3. Museum District - A neighbourhood that’s home to some of the world’s most important artistic and historical treasures, chic dining experiences, many of the Netherlands’ fanciest shops and also one of the best-sounding orchestral concert venues on the planet.
  4. Nine Streets - De Negen Straatjes is in the heart of Amsterdam's canal district and is one of the city's most delightful shopping areas. Spend a fabulous day wandering from one to the next exploring the designer boutiques, art galleries, jewellers, gift shops, fashion shops and specialist businesses - there are plenty of great bars, cafes and restaurants to refresh you along the way.
  5. Dam Square - Dam Square is Amsterdam’s best-known square, and it is a handy central location from which to explore the medieval city centre. As the site of the Royal Palace, Dam square often is the focus of events of national importance during national events
  6. Eye / North - EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam is located at Overhoeks, a new development on the northern bank of the IJ opposite central station. With its sleek modern design, the building is a wonderful new public space for Amsterdam - housing film-themed exhibitions, 4 cinema screens, an auditorium and a cafe-restaurant.

On SteemFest Sunday we also do quite some touristic stuff and you have ample time to visit the Red Light District, so don't go there before!

Ahhhhh...the Red Light District, where you can do damnnnnn near anything you want for the right price...except take a picture of the women who work there...that is one of the oddest places I have ever visited, yet one of the most interesting as well. Damn sure wish I could make it for this event!
