MLM schemes and crypto scams - misleading messages

in #steemexclusive3 months ago

The reason I told you about this crypto scam in the previous 'episode', lol, was that in the TV report, it was compared to the colossal scam perpetrated by Ruja Ignatova. In my opinion, very wrongly. Because nothing can be compared to the scale of what was done by Ruja. Of course, delving into the real reason behind this commissioned report and the message it's trying to convey, I'm not surprised by the rest of its mis-messages.

Ruja is a legend in the world of crypto, more precisely in the world of crypto scams, and of course when it comes to crypto, one must always mention a colossal scam to put the final nail in the coffin of this evil-minded currency. And what better example of deception than a local, a person known to everyone. Because, honestly, who hasn't heard of Ruja Ignatova?

If there's anything Bulgaria can be proud of, it's the invention of the computer by a Bulgarian, as well as one of the biggest scams in the world created by a Bulgarian woman, lol.

Ruja is Bulgarian, but she grew up in Germany, so it is not very clear which mentality prevailed more in her life - the Bulgarian or the German. In the English version of Wikipedia, it even says that she is of Romani origin, something I have not read or heard anywhere else - neither on TV nor in other media. But anyway, her life abroad has certainly broadened her horizons. A person who grows up in a poor country like Bulgaria can only figure out how to survive on the basis of petty and everyday frauds and thefts. The most harmless of which is how to sell yourself in a workplace where you do nothing, but take some, or even a lot of money.

When you get abroad, however, things change, everything turns around, everything expands. And like many people who emigrate to the west to work for some more normal money and then come back to bring a little of that west to the country by opening restaurants, cafes or guesthouses with that money earned, so she contributed something to the country, a fraction of which she brought from abroad lol.

In fact, now that I read in more detail about the successes of this woman, yes, perhaps the scheme shown in the report is indeed similar in some aspects and details, but the scales are very small, so the comparison seemed extremely funny to me. The report talks about $7.7 million, while Ruja's scale is in the billions.

But there was something else in this report that made an impression on me, from a purely human point of view, because I think that the line between moral/immoral, human/inhuman has long been blurred and no attention is paid to it.

The report was made on the tip of a damaged pyramid distributor in the MLM business. She took advantage of offers her company made to move up the ranks, giving her bigger discounts on the products she distributed. It is by purchasing the company's crypto currency. She has accomplished a lot for herself by investing in this company, regardless of exactly what investment she made. She even took a separate dividend from this investment. Which is not small and is a bonus to everything. Personally, I don't think it's moral for a person who is deceiving people anyway by selling them expensive products, promising to cure their incurable diseases, to complain about being deceived. Not to mention that no other distributor of this company complains about what the company has given them. Only this woman, who was evident from the report that she doesn't even live in Bulgaria, lives in Belgium, etc.

This is the irony of the whole report. A 12-minute report that says so many things, so many complaints and wrong comparisons, but actually hides the most important things - who is the company, what exactly does it do, how much did this woman earn by investing money in these non-existent company tokens, how she rose in the hierarchy, etc. All questions that no viewer will ask themselves, I'm sure, because the report seeks to convey completely different messages.

And looking for information on the web about Ruja, I found another ironic thing that I'm sure now many public figures want to sweep under the carpet - in 2014 she was the Business Woman of the Year, a competition that brings together the country's elite - from ruling in government, to business elite and high life.

So, things are much more complicated and complex than what is simply said in a report that is supposed to inform, but actually misinforms.

Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
