Changes to Steemconnect

Would you like to create an OAUTH app using Steemconnect or do you have an app that stopped working?

Please use the Steps below to get started

1- In order to create a new app you must first create a new account that will be used as the app by visiting the link below please save your secret key.
https://app.steemconnect.com/accounts/create

2- (Optional)You will then need to register you app as type APP using the link below. Using the new app account and secret key
https://app.steemconnect.com/sign/profile-update?type=app

3- You can then edit your app by going to:
https://app.steemconnect.com/apps/@theaccount/edit

4- Now you will need to hash your secret key.

In order to do this you will need to create a javascript named GENKEY.js using the following code and replacing YOURSECRETKEY with the secret key you generated at account
creation

const crypto = require('crypto');

const secret = 'YOURSECRETKEY';
const secretHash = crypto.createHash('sha256').update(secret).digest('hex');

console.log('Secret hash', secretHash);

Run this code using node by typing the following command in your CLI

node GENKEY.js

5- After you have completed the steps above you will need to go to the link below replacing the words yourapp with the new app account and
replacing the words the256hashofyoursecretkey with the hash you created in the previous step.

https://app.steemconnect.com/sign/profile-update?account=yourapp&secret=the256hashofyoursecretkey

That's it! Once you have completed the steps above your app will be working.

*For old apps you only need to complete the last 2 steps(4 and 5) starting with Hashing your secret Key.
