MY STEEMCHURCH BULLETIN: "BE CAREFUL FOR THE MOUTH" #4

One of the secrets of knowing God and enjoying His benefits is to know when to talk and when to keep quiet. Zacharias was a priest of the living God and the Bible records that he was a righteous man. He served the Lord well although he did not have a child. He was a faithful servant of God. One day, as he went about his work in the temple of God, he moved into the Holy of holies, a place where only the High priest alone could go into. Even the King was not allowed to enter into the Holy of holies, although the high priest was the second in command to the King of Israel.
The high priest could misbehave and the angels of God would beat him to death. Since nobody else were allowed to go into the Holy of holies, a rope with small bells attaches was tied around the waist of the priest before he went in there. As he moved about inside, the bells would be jingling and people would know that he was still alive. But the moment the bells stopped jingling, he was presumed dead and would be dragged out with the rope.

On this fateful day, Zacharias was inside as usual offering sacrifice to God when an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared and Stood by the right side of the altar of incense. The Bible said, as soon as Zacharias saw the angel he was troubled and fear fell upon him.
The angel said to him;

“Luke 1:11-17 King James Version (KJV)
And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
This was a wonderful prophecy to Zacharias that should make him to jump up and praise the Lord but he looked at the angel and said;
“Can these things be? whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man and my wife well stricken in years.?”
The angel was annoyed with Zacharias. God did not send the angel to make Zacharias dumb but because of Zacharias's lack of faith, he was made dumb. The angel introduced himself;
“Luke 1:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.”

The question is why did the angel padlock the mouth of Zacharias? The reason his mouth was padlocked is that if Zacharias had continued to talk that way, he would have talked himself out of his Miracles. With the powerful weapon of the mouth, he would have cancelled his Miracles. It is lamentable that there are so many prayers that people have prayed and God has given answers to them but some people have been careless with their mouth and as such cancelled the prayers and turned around to blame the devil. For example, somebody just prayed;
“O God, arise and change the story of my life.”
A few minutes or hours later, the same person due to one reason or another will say;
“What kind of life is this? What others are doing with ease, why is my own hard? Who have I offended?”
By that singular confession, the person has cancelled his prayers.
I am praying right now by the decree of heaven that any evil your mouth has been using to harass you and the backwardness you have spoken to your life by yourself, I cancel it, in the name of Jesus.
So beloved, the confession we make with our mouth circulates around our whole being, whether positively or negatively.
I encourage everyone to be mindful with what they say.
May the peace of God be with us all in Jesus. Amen.
PRAYER TIME
Father Lord, forgive me for the wrong use of my tongue, in the name of Jesus.
Every good thing my mouth has made me lose, I recover it by fire in the name of Jesus.
