O YE BELIEVER! WALK THE TALK

To "WALK the TALK" implies acting in a way that agrees with the things you. This is the best way we stay true to ourselves. It is a measure of our sincerity to God, ourselves and people around us. Let us take a critical look at this topic in the light of God's word.

Reading passage:

Romans 2: 17 - 29.

17 But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God 18 and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19 and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— 21 you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. 24 For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

25 For circumcision indeed is of value if you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. 26 So, if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded[a] as circumcision? 27 Then he who is physically[b] uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code[c] and circumcision but break the law. 28 For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. 29 But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

From the passage above we can see that anyone who claims to be a Christian should be someone who knows what God wants,lives in obedience to His laws shows others what it means to be a follower of Christ by living an exemplary life(vs 17-20).

Verse 21-23 shows how Paul condemns hypocrisy of the Jews. Let's stop and ask ourself have we by any way ask people to do things and we are unwilling to do? Do we say one thing and do the another?

Such a lifestyle amounts to hypocrisy (Matthew 23:2-4). In verse 24 we can see that the effect of talking but not doing what we say is that God's name will be blasphemed.

People tend not to believe in us anymore,our witnessing of Christ itches the people in their,our society can not trust us anymore.

We give people the reason to think that there is no potency in the word of God and We drive people away from our churches.

In verse 25-29, we can see that circumcision is not a criteria to make it to heaven but simple Obedience does the work.
You cannot say you know God if you are not obedient to him.

I am not condemning circumcision but I tell you without obedience circumcision is useless r futile. Again the uncircumcised who keep God's ways are as good as the circumcised in fact better.

It is better to keep God's law uncircumcised than break it circumcised. It is not the cut on your skin that makes you a christian but you become a Christian by who you are in Christ. It is the mark of God on your heart, not of the knife on your skin , that makes you a christian.

Our spiritual life the condition of our inner man,holiness,purity and obedient spirit is more important to God than religious activities such as church attendance, good deeds,conforming to church rules and regulations, etc., are useless if they do not lead to transformation in our lives. It is like being a Jew,being circumcised,without keeping the law.(1st Samuel 15:22)

Let's try to match our Profession of Faith.

A Call to Action

In Romans 10: 9 -10, the scripture points to action that can be taken to unravel this mystery and enjoy this newness of life.
