BLACK PANTHER THEMED CHURCH SERVICE; RELIGION OR MADNESS?
"And he declared to them, it is written; my house will be called a house of Prayer. But you are making it a den of robbers"- Matthew 21:13
The World is in the Church and so is the Church in the World. What does darkness have in relationship with light? Absolutely nothing says the Lord from the Holy Scriptures.
Entertainment is not a sin, placing it above God is the actual sin and sadly, there are thousand and one things we humans cherish more than our maker. Money, pleasures of this World, Fame, Reputation, Sports, Movies etc. A typical example is a news circulating the web about a church in the United State with the aim of supporting the Latest Marvel Movie "Black Panther"; the Choir members and the Pastor dressed in an all themed Black Panther/Wakanda costume for a Sunday Service.
Trinity United Church in Chicago United State is where Rev Dr. Otis Moss III ministered as "Tachala"; dressed fully like the movie's lead male character while his choirs dressed like the female Wakanda fierce warriors. The pastor made a grand entrance with his choristers into the church as the congregation was divided into a "support and against" frenzy. Like every other canal things, news had spread like wildfire and social media took no laxity in condemning and some in support of this gesture from all corners of the World.
As the first All Black cast Super Hero movie, it was worth all the attention; but doing this in the house of God is wrong, which the Bible clearly stated how Jesus Christ reacted to merchants selling in the temple of God.
To some, it is a hilarious act; but to all real Christians, this is just similar to turning the house of God to a place to sell Doves and anointing oils. Jesus Christ's Reaction is enough evidence indicating the House of God is not meant to be disrespected in any ramification. The zeal of the house of God(His Father) consumed him and he turned merchants tables upside down. Now when a minister of God who should know better is indulged in a similar scenario; seems such Pastor or Rev knows not what the Bible really entails.
Whether you are in support or applaud this Church, it is a matter of knowing what the scriptures say and understanding the word of God. Not a matter of being an extremist or a recluse.
A Church is a house of God, a consecrated place of Worship and prayers. No other religion would try this in their places of worship, it is a sadreality why christianity is taking with levity and believers not having the fear of the Most High God in them.

Taking these to church is really over the bar, not trying to sound religious buh there should be some sort of difference from the church and pure entertainment center. So many churches are losing the spiritual aspect of Christianity all in the name of mordenization or moving with times.
religion is entertainment... they are wild for basically having a commercial in church though. i agree there is a certain setting to have such advertisement. I also think that it would be nice if those black churches understood or at least addressed their ancestral spirituality aside from the religion brought here by the conquerors of the continent.
You got it right brother, Church is a Holy place and not meant for any shenanigans for no reasons.
I will not condemn them already because it could be possible that the aim and objective might not really be to promote the movie but to pass a message. I know so many will want to tag this as total madness which is actually what it looks like from our African cultured mentality but on a second, i wouldn't see it as madness if its actually meant for the purpose of passing a message. Av seen a Church dress youths as warriors to celebrate Christ the King here in Nigeria and they were applauded for the creativity, so this one could be same too.
Then you probably don't understand the Bible verse quoted i must say, plus if you read fully and click the references you get to know their aim.
Great piece my brother, I wrote about the sub messages of the Black Panther a couple weeks ago, this was my greatest fear, it seems like its starting to take root....The theme of the movie isn't something we should should be happy about but it was well played, its the seeds of the sub-conscious that are manifesting here... We are very confused as a people and our sub-conscious is easily persuaded and I stand in full support of you, The Church should be a house of prayer and not the show that manifest itself these days..

It's really sad that some so-called men of God are the ones leading such debased mentality, it's such a shame. Rather than preach and do things that will set the hearts of the members on Christ and the gospel, this is what they do well, by their fruits you shall know them. Blessings bro

Because I can not phantom how a man of God will bring activities that happened in a film to the church of God not even Christian movie for crying out loud. He was not even talking about but also dressing like the characters, he has turn the church of God into amusement park

I am a Christian who lives in America. Sadly, this kind of corruption of Christianity is very common here. People who call themselves Christians attend church to be entertained. They give lip service to God the Father and Jesus but they show their true colors by what they say and do. It takes very little searching on the internet to realize that the majority of American Christians are heretics.
So sad sire, same in Lagos Nigeria.
Apparently, people become pastors these days to fill their bank accounts with tithe and offerings.
It's really strange how other religions keep their places of worship sacred, but many Christians and Clergy see it purely as a business and entertainment centre. The good thing is that there are still churches that hold their altars and halls as sacred so anyone looking for that can still get it instead of complaining. The bad thing, however, is that such places are few and not easy to identify and the spirit of business and entertainment is gradually taking over.
