THE REASON FOR HIS COMING

in #steemchurch8 years ago (edited)

Many when they look at the cross see a dying person, they even dare to feel sorry for the Lord. They see Him as the innocent one they have mistreated, as the poor one who could not defend himself before his captors, whom they killed and even some weep for Him. But are these thoughts close to the truth? Let us see the truth according to the Bible.

THE INTRIGUE
The arrival of Jesus Christ as a man had already been announced long before, it had even been said how he was going to die and we find in the psalms and prophets enormous quantities of texts that mention him.

"' Then I said, "Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.'

Psalms 40:6-8
https://www.bible.com/bible/59/PSA.40.6-8"

And here:
"Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. As many were astonished at you— his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of mankind— so shall he sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths because of him, for that which has not been told them they see, and that which they have not heard they understand.'

Isaiah 52:13-15
https://www.bible.com/bible/59/ISA.52.13-15"

If we continue reading chapter 53 we find a detailed description of all that Jesus Christ was going to suffer. The point is, if they really knew everything he was going to suffer then why did they send him? They could not have caught him off guard for a long time before it had already been announced. Reading a little more history we find this:

'For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father." '

John 10:17-18
https://www.bible.com/bible/59/JHN.10.17-18"

Jesus is clearly saying that no one can kill him, he gives his life, no one takes it away, no one can kill him, so his death was not an innocent act but a provoked act, because as he said, he could also recover his life (resurrect). But what is the reason why someone would let it get so bad, he felt pain with every blow, he knew it would happen and he still came to make it happen. Why? Why? What is the real reason? And we must continue to suffer when we see an image of a man tortured on a cross?

REASON ONE - FATHERLY LOVE

'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. '

John 3:16
https://www.bible.com/bible/59/JHN.3.16

It says that the Father gave Him out of love, thanks to the love He has for us, in the Law of Moses it is written that whoever violates any of the commandments of that Law must die. And we as a human race were unable to fulfill all that Law, so we all deserved to die and die in this case means total separation from God, but the Father sent Jesus Christ to fulfill the Law, And after having fulfilled it, suffer the punishment that we did not deserve, when you see the Cross, if you are going to weep, weep for yourself, if you are going to feel sorry, feel it for yourself, because that was the punishment that you and I deserved.

' He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].'

2 CORINTHIANS 5:21
https://www.bible.com/bible/1588/2CO.5.21

' For indeed Christ died for sins once for all, the Just and Righteous for the unjust and unrighteous [the Innocent for the guilty] so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit;'

1 PETER 3:18

  • Benefits for us
Then all of us were benefited by his suffering, so that it opened the possibility of our salvation and reconciliation with God. What we need is to believe in Him, Abraham believed God and it was told to him as righteousness, and the righteous by faith will live, so, if Christ is life our faith must be Him in order to live, this would not have been possible without His death.

  • Benefits for He
    He reach perfection
' For it was fitting for God [that is, an act worthy of His divine nature] that He, for whose sake are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the author and founder of their salvation perfect through suffering [bringing to maturity the human experience necessary for Him to be perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest].'

HEBREWS 2:10
https://www.bible.com/bible/1588/HEB.2.10

He makes it clear that if he had not suffered, he would not have achieved perfection, but he obtained it because "for what he suffered he learned obedience".

He received greater glory
' Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes--the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father.'

  • Makes it possible to close the chapter on humanity

    PICTURE
' I saw in the right hand of Him who was seated on the throne a scroll written on the inside and on the back, closed and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel announcing with a loud voice, “Who is worthy [having the authority and virtue] to open the scroll and to break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth [in Hades, the realm of the dead] was able to open the scroll or look into it. And I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or look into it. Then one of the [twenty-four] elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look closely, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome and conquered! He can open the scroll and [break] its seven seals.” And there between the throne (with the four living creatures) and among the elders I saw a Lamb (Christ) standing, [bearing scars and wounds] as though it had been slain, with seven horns (complete power) and with seven eyes (complete knowledge), which are the seven Spirits of God who have been sent [on duty] into all the earth. And He came and took the scroll from the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb (Christ), each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of fragrant incense, which are the prayers of the saints (God’s people). And they sang a new song [of glorious redemption], saying, “Worthy and deserving are You to take the scroll and to break its seals; for You were slain (sacrificed), and with Your blood You purchased people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. '

REVELATION 5:1-9
https://www.bible.com/bible/1588/REV.5.1-9

One thing we can notice, these seals are the ones that bring the apocalypse upon the human race, and no one could undo the seals. When the lamb appears it is mentioned that he is worthy and can undo the seals BECAUSE HE WAS UNMOUNTED, If he had not participated in flesh and blood (taken human form), he could not have been immolated, and if he had not been immolated, there would be no one in heaven worthy to undo the seals, therefore the apocalypse would not be possible. He makes it possible because once he lives as a human being he not only demonstrates that it was possible to fulfill the law, but also gives us the possibility to be saved by having faith in it, so no one has any excuse to say that he cannot approach God, because Jesus Christ made the bridge that leads us directly to Him.

That is the true reason for his coming. Now when you see the cross remember this message and hurry to seek God, for time is getting shorter and shorter. Don't cry for him, cry for yourself, for the regret of having done the wrong things, then you will be presenting your repentance, believe in Jesus Christ and change your way of life, then we will make it worth your while. Otherwise we'd be hypocrites lamenting and doing nothing. He is also alive, resurrected on the third day and is now at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.
