STEEMCHURCH: Restore us, O God!
Psalm 80: 1-3
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock.
You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,
shine forth 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken your might;
come and save us.
3 Restore us, O God;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.

Dear friends
In this Psalm is proclaimed Hear us, Shepherd of Israel: Here stands the image of a king or ruler over a people. Asaf correctly understood in a special and wonderful way the Lord as the Shepherd of Israel. It was He who has shepherded Joseph as sheep.
The psalmist had a high concept of God, his holiness, his presence and his power. How can we have the right concept of God? Many people are content to think of God "in their own way". But our understanding of God, our concept of him is of the utmost importance. The only way to have an adequate concept of God is to know his Word and to know him in Jesus Christ. Thus the Holy Spirit, and knowing the Scriptures, is forming in us an adequate concept of God.
By praying with this Psalm we will recognize that God has the power. Let us ask him to use it now in this difficult situation that we are going through, to save ourselves.
It helps us to reflect on the current economic and political situation. Value and overcome the threats to which we are exposed. It leads us to understand the spiritual meaning of salvation as reconciliation and communion with God.
Restore us! The saying that is repeated several times is powerful. The word restore us is a causative form of the verb shub, "to return". Thus, the psalmist asks that God bring us back to a previous condition. When we turn away from God, when a revival is needed, we should do the same prayer.
Make your face shine is an echo of the priestly blessing in Numbers 6:25
. When God does this we will be saved. All salvation is of God and depends on his work.
God who handles all the stars and all the heavenly hosts will certainly have the power to change our situation.

Beloved Christ; with your tunic you keep us day by day, you clothe us when there is cold and you protect us from misfortunes. When evil looms, you drive it away without fear and in desperate cases it serves as a shelter for us. I ask you not to abandon me in these hours, in which only my faith in you can make me overcome what I go through. Grant me the joy of overcoming this, beloved Jesus, Amen.
