STEEMCHURCH - #3 Life Lessons

in #steemchurch6 years ago

This is the part 3 in the life lessons series.Check out the second part here

There is someone very dear to my heart. She is my childhood friend, but she has one issue anger. She's so addicted to it that once she's angry nothing else matters. Being her friend for over 10 years, I've learned to avoid her when she's angry.

One day, I received a call from her. She was in tears and heartbroken. I asked what the problem was, it happened she met an amazing cool-headed guy that she loved so much. She got into an argument with this guy and the next thing she did was to smash a 65-inch television in the guy's living room.

The guy was furious and asked her to leave his apartment & never come back. She regretted her actions and pleaded the for mercy, but the guy refused that he can't cope with someone like her.

Before you crucify the guy, my friend has done a lot of awful things to him out of anger. She has smashed the guy's iPhone 6s a month before smashing another one. Her anger cost her that relationship.

Anger isn't worth it:

The aftermath of anger last far longer, but the satisfaction or pleasure you get from being angry lasts a few minutes. Sometimes, you think being angry is the only way to express what you're feeling inside of you, which is not truly bad, but be careful cause anger is like a drug that once you're addicted to it, you might live a life full of regrets, stress, and unhappiness.

I am not saying that we are not allowed to be angry, after all, we are all humans with emotions, but we can learn healthier ways to communicate our feelings, and when anger arises, step away until you're calm.

Listen to this: anger comes with a strong energy, but you can use that energy positively. Instead of breaking household items, you can as well, do some household chores with it. And again, anyone can get angry but how you see or use it especially to those around you is what matters.

On the other hand, let us also look at God's biblical method for controlling anger. The bible says, "Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry" We have the spirit of God in us that can help us have control over our anger. This simply means it's not okay to let your emotions see the sunset. God knows we can all get angry, but for whatever reason, do not allow it to see the next day.

Cut your coat according to your cloth:

I wish most people would understand that there's nothing in this life. You don't need to go out of your way to show off what you don't have.

Let your expenditure be determined by your resources. Do only what you have enough money to do and no more. You don't have to please anyone, don't try so hard to make people believe you've arrived.

I am not saying you shouldn't spend your money or do anything to make yourself feel happy and comfortable, but it is wise to curtail unnecessary expenses, especially if you are doing it just to show off.

I have seen a lot of peeps borrow money simply because they want to have a society wedding and all. It's okay to feel special on your day, but the question is, what happens after that?

Debit isn't worth it! It is humiliating!!! It is extremely stressful to buy/acquire things you can't afford. Why not wait until you can afford it. Remember, there's no rush in life. We all have our time & pace so don't force it. I want you to also know this, you are not competing with anyone. It applies to every aspect of your life! Don't always act on impulse, think twice before expanding much more than your personal capacity. The funny thing is, that people are never pleased, they will always expect so much from you. Now, the question is, why bother yourself over what they feel or think? Be yourself and stay true to yourself.

Friends come and go:

Friends come & go, like the waves of the ocean, but the true ones stay, like an octopus on your face.

They say change is constant. In life, I've learned that not all friendships will last forever. There are some of my friends that we are no longer friends. In fact, I don't even have their contacts any more. Not that I can't get in touch with them, if I want to, but just because you're friends with someone 20 years ago doesn't mean you are going to be close to them today. People change, they grow up, and grow apart and that's OK.

Friends are placed in our lives for a particular reason. Some are there to be a source of blessing, others are there to teach us life lessons. Some will betray your trust and friendship and others might cherish it.

Some people will come into your life to help design you, but they don't defined you. They are there at that moment to help you move up to the next level, and they suddenly disappear. Remember to always keep an open mind, not all friends are fake. The fact that you were betrayed by Charles does not mean another Charles will do same to you. Learn to give your friends a second chance, forgive, but be wise.

However, there's a friend who will never leave you. He will always be with you come rain come shine. He's a good, true and real friend. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Jesus is that Friend that will never forsake you. He loves you for who you are. He is everything you need. JESUS TRULY CARES!!!

I like this @ammyluv. You speak to us where we live!

I strongly agree. What we do with our anger is what matters. Avoiding anger at all cost is not a healthy or real way to live. Jesus became angry and those guys selling stuff in the temple felt His anger...

I think an important key to our relationship with anger is to choose what we get angry about. Let's not get angry about petty stuff or for selfish reasons. Let's choose to get angry about things worthy of our anger. Social injustice, a child being hurt, animals abused, corruption, etc. And then our anger can energise us to do something about such things.

Jesus truly cares. There many lessons to learn here dear. Thank you so much for this.

@stevenmosoes

Great post @ammyluv. Anger like that is not fitting for a child of God. We must practice self-control under the control of the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for writing!
