Update #24, Chess League in Nueva Esparta - Island School Chess Now Has Its Delegation
In the framework of the 2019 School Games, which are held in the island geography, last 12 and 13 of this month, the state final of the chess competition of this competition took place.
This important national qualifying event took place at the Petronila Mata Special Educational Unit, in the Palosano sector in La Asunción, which received 34 mini-thinkers from the municipalities of Arismendi, Díaz, Gómez, Maneiro, Marcano and UETD Nueva Esparta.
After finishing the six qualifying rounds, in the female branch, Valentina Marín Murguey (UETD) and Eliana Quijada Delgado (UETD), and in the male branch, Juan Lyon Martínez (UETD) and Juan Cabello Hurtado (Maneiro) won the right to represent the island tricolor in the national phase of the School Games scheduled from July 15 to 28 in the Capital District, Miranda and Lara.
The fair, supported by the Nueva Esparta State Educational Zone (ZENE) and the Nueva Esparta State Chess Association (Asoajedrene), was organized by Ulises Hernández, who was also in the calculations, supported by Henry Villalba, Humberto Rojas and Abraham Jiménez in the arbitration.
Last year the state of Nueva Esparta obtained an outstanding performance at the national school event in Guarenas, where the islander Juan Lyon was runner-up in this competition.
