Literature Review

We have seen a lot of really great posts this week that are about Steem Basic Income or Universal Basic Income. Since we don't have any major program announcement this week, we will review some of the literature instead.

Steem Basic Income: A System That Works? Why Everyone Should Be Supporting It!!!!

Ever since I first got involved on Steem, @taskmaster4450 has been somebody that I have followed and learned a lot from. He has a great informative blog, and I was gratified to see him investigate our program and give it a nice review. He did say that we have 'automated the process,' which I really wish were 100% true. The vote delivery is currently automated, but managing the voting weights in our vote delivery tool is very manual, and development of our fully automated system has seen quite a few delays because of the complexity.

Don't Make People in Need Jump Through Hoops for Food

Steem Basic Income is inspired by a desire to develop a sustainable Universal Basic Income. We are still a long way from that lofty objective, but starting to make at least some difference to the members we support. @scottsantens is a leading advocate for Universal Basic Income, and in this recent post he talks about SNAP (a food stamps program in the USA).

Understanding the four major types of paid upvotes on Steemit.

This is a broadly informative article that explains the different types of upvote services that exist on Steem. It covers self-voting, bid-bots, subscription services (like @steembasicincome), and discounters (we have previously called these fixed-vote services). I have been continually impressed with @tcpolymath in the discussions I have had with him, as well as with the work that I have seen from him. He covers everything that I would cover if I weren't so busy managing upvote weights, and does it well.

Steemit Strategies - SP: To Lease or Not to Lease

In today's final selection, @energyaddict22 talks about the pros and con of leasing delegation. We are big believers that people should maintain enough SP in their accounts to have the slider and give meaningful upvotes on comments. Even though we reward members for delegation to our program, we encourage members to maintain 500 SP in their accounts before delegating. As @energyaddict22 demonstrates, leasing delegation can be a very effective strategy, if you are committed to remaining active over the time of your lease.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

If you're unclear, please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and then let us know if you have any questions.
https://steemit.com/basicincome/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-new-transaction-memo-guidelines

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion (usually when they're very close, or when SBD is stronger) but you do not receive extra value or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead.

Steem Creators Conference

Here is @josephsavage's presentation on Steem Basic Income, which we published at the end of April. Thumbnail

... and I was gratified to see him investigate our program and give it a nice review.

No problem...I was happy to do it.

I keep delving deeper and learning more. Been referring a few people over. Talked to the ones over at Manna and they are for supporting you as much as they can also.

Since I did some promotion for them, it only makes sense that basic incomes support each other. A lot of need in the world.

I look forward to see what other developments and updates you have. You are off to a terrific start.

There is a lot of need in the world. I do what little I can; I'm hoping that the incentives built into SBI will create a base that allows for much more long-term impact. It's looking good so far, but time will tell.

Seems like there are a few trials of UBI going around the world at the moment, and I would be interested to see how the concept works different when the geographical boundaries are removed as the case with steembasicincome and with a much larger number of people involved.

The work that @mannacurrency is doing is very interesting as a non-geographical UBI trial, too. If you haven't already seen it, you should check out Manna.

I signed up for mannabase.com but I have had ongoing issues with the account. I am interested in other people's thoughts about it though.

Maybe I should check my account again. I haven't really looked at it since initial registration, other than to check after the first week that the crypto was showing up.

Thank you for your appreciation and support. It is a great initiative that you are doing :)
My Gratitude to all of you :)

Thank you for your kind words. We try to do what we can to make Steem a more enriching place.

Another "food" for my hunger mind about steemit. Too fast to catch up with, but I have forever to read and learn everything, thanks for wrapping it up!

You're welcome! There is always so much to read and learn!

Thank you for showcasing these posts. It's good to have them all available in one place. Thanks SBI.

You're welcome!
