Steemit.chat is Now Steem.chat

For long, I used to wonder about the name of Steemit’s official chat platform. Because it had nothing to do with Steemit and yet it was called Steemit Chat! All Steemers (irrespective of the frontend app for the Steem blockchain) or non Steemers could join it and interact with each other.

Yes, in the early days of Steem, Steemit was the only user interface available to interact with the Steem blockchain. But with the development of other apps and after Steemit created its own logo to differentiate it with Steem blockchain’s logo, I was actually observing what Steemit.chat's next move will be.

It was surprising to see that though Steemit.chat claimed to be an official Steemit Chat platform, it was not allowed to use the new Steemit logo on it. So Steemit.chat continued with the freely available Steem blockchain logo.

From the beginning itself, many people used to confuse with the Steemit.chat name and tried saying and typing Steem.chat as it was easier to remember. Steem.chat name was shorter and more logical to get on the lips of most people. Probably you can yourself recollect how many times you said Steem Chat instead of Steemit Chat 😊

So it’s a good news that the new management of Steemit.chat has decided to rebrand itself as Steem.chat. A top 30 Steem Witness and part of the new management of Steemit.chat Mr. Jeff a.k.a. @followbtcnews has recently made a formal announcement for the change of name from Steemit.chat to Steem.chat from the newly created account @steem.chat.

The best part of this transition is that you don’t need to create any new account and can sign in with the same credentials as at Steemit.chat and all your chat history & account settings are saved as it is there. The same platform interface with a new and shorter domain name! Isn't it a great news?

The only thing to complete this transition will be to change the Steemit.chat link to Steem.chat on steemit.com/welcome page and on its drop down side panel menu on home page. I don’t know if it requires some Github commit. But whatever is needed should be done sooner than later.
