🗞 G7 Says ‘Global Stablecoins’ Pose Threat to Financial Stability

The G7 group of nations has reportedly drafted a report which says that “global stablecoins” pose a threat to the global financial system.

According to the BBC on Oct. 13, a draft report from the G7 outlined the various risks associated with digital currencies. It also said that, even if member firms of the governing Libra Association addressed regulatory concerns, it may not get approval from the necessary regulators, stating:

"The G7 believe that no stablecoin project should begin operation until the legal, regulatory and oversight challenges and risks are adequately addressed. [...] Addressing such risks is not necessarily a guarantee of regulatory approval for a stablecoin arrangement."

🗞 Telegram Could Postpone Crypto Issuance After US Halts Token Sale

Telegram could delay the original plan of issuing its own cryptocurrency on the Telegram Open Network by Oct. 31 after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered it to halt the allegedly “unlawful” token sale in the country.

According to a report from Bloomberg on Monday, Telegram sent a note to investors saying it is considering ways to resolve the temporary restraining order from the SEC , including the possibility of postponing the issuance after the Oct. 31 deadline.

The SEC said on Friday last week that it filed for and obtained an emergency action and restraining order halting Telegram from selling or distributing its gram tokens in the U.S.

🗞Zcash Will Get a Gateway Into Ethereum’s DeFi Ecosystem

When cryptocurrency fans gathered in Osaka, Japan, this week for the Devcon developer conference, the halls were filled with buzz about smaller projects seeking access to ethereum’s decentralized finance smorgasbord, especially loans and financial products, via interoperability.

“Connecting to other chains doesn’t seem to be an ethereum developer’s priority,” Summa co-founder James Prestwich told CoinDesk. “But other chains seem to want to connect to ethereum.”

For example, Josh Swihart, VP of marketing and business development at the Electric Coin Company (ECC), told CoinDesk that over the next six months the zcash community will develop a wrapped ZEC token that can be used on the ethereum blockchain. The privacy coin may one day become a conduit for private, automated loans and financial products.

🗞 Bitcoin Price Flatlines at $8.4K as Bollinger Bands Predict Breakout

Bitcoin price (BTC) bulls looked as if they were taking charge last week as BTC/USD rose by over $1,000, albeit momentarily.

Bitcoin rallied throughout the week from a low of $7,760 on Oct. 7 to over $8,800 where it was rejected around the 200 >Day Moving Average (MA) on Oct. 11.

After this point, 50% of the weekly gains were wiped out in a matter of minutes as it fell back down to the $8,300 range.
As Bitcoin price attempts another recovery, could we start to see altcoins regaining momentum? A look at this week's charts across the top-3 cryptocurrencies certainly paints a very interesting picture.

Both BTC/USD runup and rejection towards the 200 Day MA wasn't exactly unexpected. Using the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) Bitcoin was showing short term bullish momentum on the daily chart but also still showed signs of bearish divergence on the weekly.
