STEEM: I Admit It: Even I Am Starting To Be Amazed
Ho hum, just another day in paradise on the STEEM blockchain.
Does a $1B-$3B ICO catch your attention? It should.
That is what some are predicting the Telegram ICO will raise. This has a chance to be one of the largest ICOs in cryptocurrency history.
Why do I bring this up?
Because we are going to have Deegram. This is a decentralized version of Telegram being built on the STEEM blockchain.

So why are we developing Deegram? We believe in a democratized social network where the power belongs to the users. No corporation or business needs should ever be prioritized at the expense of privacy and fairness.

I am excited to see them promoting the idea of decentralization, something that is becoming a hot topic with the public over the data issue. This makes the application attractive to more than just the crypto-nuts.
One of the most exciting parts of the introduction post is the fact they started the project with a team member who was working on an application on Ethereum. As they progressed, once they found STEEM, that is where they decided to head.
We started working on the concept of Deegram about a year ago before we discovered Steemit and the Steem blockchain. One of the team members had a summer internship at the Norwegian tax administration, working with a proof-of-concept blockchain application on the Ethereum blockchain.
I hope you all enjoy reading my posts because, quite frankly, I feel like I am beginning to sound like a broken record.
Another application coming to the STEEM blockchain that has the potential to really add value to this ecosystem. Telegram become one of the more popular messaging applications yet Deegram seems like it will have even more functionality. The introduction post talked about all the ways that it will filter out content that is not wanted to the user gets only what he or she desires.
Deegram is a place to share everything, whether it’s music, articles, books, movies or places to visit. The feed is highly customizable and we’re building a cleaner and streamlined way of filtering content to your personal preference.
Perhaps you’re not interested in Greg sharing 80’s glam rock, but you would like to see pictures of his pet and take inspiration from his great taste in movies and articles.
Naturally, this has the writing of SMT all over it. If this application is successful, I can see the developers creating their own token for it. This will be another in what is believed to be a long line of SMT projects on this blockchain.
In going through the website, it looks professionally done. It is very clean with all the information there. Not only do they explain the project on the site, but also what is STEEM, blockchain, and cryptocurrency. It is imperative that we remember most of the world is not accustomed to any of this, hence further explanation is required.
The team has over a year into this project so it is not something they are just throwing together. The screenshots look like they created a nice application that will be available on both Android and IOS. This will give STEEM another mobile interface, something that is needed going forward.
What we really have forming is a suite of applications. When looking at this, one might ask why Deegram if Telegram comes out with a token of its own? Won't people just use that? Not only is this a valid question, it is a common sense answer. The reality is that most would not use Deegram with Telegram as a tokenized option in a head to head comparison.
There is, however, one difference. With Deegram one also gains access to Dlive, D.tube, Dmania, Actifit, Steemhunt, Steemmonsters, Appics, and Steepshot. As we see more applications on this blockchain, the ability to use the same user name and keys for all applications will come in handy. There is no need to establish a multitude of accounts. Plus, I presume, all the SMT protocol generated tokens will reside in the same wallet system.
Is everyone starting to see the potential yet?
Each day we are seeing more development. At this pace, even I am starting to be amazed.
Just give it another 6 months and our heads will be exploding.
STEEM is the place to be.

You want to make people fomo into steem? This is how you make people fomo into steem. Man this is dope, though I wonder if it will be in direct competition with appics.
I agree. It all comes down to the applications. Provide people with things they will use and they will come to it.
Will it have a chat feature? Or else it will not be a Telegram decentralised version. The core thing in Telegram is the chat function.
They're sure coming thick and fast. Even if 90% fail (and I don't see why they would), we're still getting a fantastic new tool/feature/option/airdrop every few days. It's insane.
It realistically will only take a few successes to really make things jump around here.
Prepare for a torrent of tokens once the SMT protocol is released. The proof-of-stake model of Steem will not even break a sweat, unlike Ethereum, particularly with the recently released scalability enhancements in place.

And yeah, the competition is fierce both on the centralized and decentralized side of things. Going toe-to-toe with the traditional social medias are definitely not an easy task, but we're giving it our best!
Cool that you liked the fact that I worked with Ethereum earlier. Ethereum is great, but for social media and micro-transactions there's really no doubt that Steem is great. One of my favorite factors is that everyone is working together to bring it forward. With the community we have, I believe the chance of success is high.

Being part of the STEEM ecosystem will be to your advantage in my opinion. It is a pretty solid community that will help promote the project. Many have put together bounty programs that were widely embraced.
Keep the information coming and it will start to catch the attention of the masses on here. Just go back and look how @steemmonsters and @steemhunt took off in terms of the following.
