Money Improved: STEEM And MANNA Leading The Way

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

What is the biggest problem with fiat currency?

Basically, it is what was wrong with money over the past, well forever.

Money means control. Kings knew this. They created the money which they distributed to their henchmen who, in turn, took money from the population in the form of taxes (usually by sword). After monarchies were put out to pasture, the state took over control of this doing the same thing.

Essentially, the problem with money, as we know it, is that the creation and distribution are in the hands of a few.

This was true no matter what the form of currency is. Throughout history, this was the core aspect to money.

Enter in Bitcoin.

Almost a decade ago, an anonymous individual (or group) named Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin. For all the virtues mentioned, the most powerful aspect of Bitcoin is that it allowed anyone to create and distribute money. Today, there are over 1,500 tokens listed on coinmarketcap.com meaning that many got into the creation game.

Another revolutionary aspect to this is that it is a decentralized system meaning there is no point of entry to "cut off the head". Governments around the world cannot arrest founders, shut down companies, or raid offices to get servers.

The drawback to Bitcoin, while it excelled at the creation of money, it absolutely sucks at distribution. For the most part, the people holding Bitcoin had to either buy or mine it. Both methods cost money which puts it in the hands of only a few. Since money is power, we see the challenges Bitcoin encounters.

Enter Utility Tokens.

In my opinion, at the head of this class is STEEM. At this point, it is unrivaled. We are closing in on 1M wallets (roughly 900K) in only two years. Since I joined in August, there are roughly 600K people who came to the STEEM blockchain.

On top of this, the Proof of Work that caused Bitcoin so many problems is eliminated. There are no miners who have a vested interest in keeping transaction fees high. The Proof of Scope is proving to be a much better concept since it allows for much faster transaction times.

None of this compares to the real breakthrough of STEEM. The Proof of Brain concept solves the distribution problem that Bitcoin failed to meet. The value of a Utility Token is that the acquisition is done through the utility of the token. While STEEM can be purchased, it was designed to reward people for posting, upvoting, and commenting. This is how people get STEEM in their wallet.

STEEM not only handles the creation of money, it also solves the distribution problem.

I would be remiss if I did not handle one of the most common complaints about STEEM and the distribution of the currency. Some seem to think that the Whales having all the control is a problem. While it is true that the majority of the tokens are in the hands of a few at this point, the distribution is starting to spread out. Those who believe the Whales are getting stronger are not dealing in facts. Here is a post I did a couple weeks ago detailing the decline of their power.

One of the problems we see with the bankster controlled fiat system is how new money is dealt. For the masses to get any new money they need to earn it in the form of payment (exchanging present time) or they get it via debt (exchanging future time).

STEEM solves a lot of issues yet it still requires the exchange of time. The positive aspect to this is that the rewards are given for people expressing their creativity instead of doing some mindless or dangerous work.

Enter MANNA.

This is the next step in the evolution of money.

Remember that Bitcoin allowed anyone to create and distribute money. MANNA was created to be distributed. It exists for no other reason. The masses acquire MANNA simply by signing up and verifying. After that, tokens arrive on a weekly basis regardless of what the individual does.

This is what is known as a basic income. There are no strings attached, one simply receives the tokens for being a unique person.

Basic income is a controversial subject, in large part due to prejudice and ignorance. One aspect that does not fall under this category is the debate about governments getting involved. When this is discussed, people are basically referring to existing money. This is an issue simply because governments cannot deal in existing money without theft. No matter how you analyze it, ultimately for money to be paid to one person by a government, it has to be taken from someone else.

MANNA does not do this. No money is taken from anyone else to give to another. Every token that is put into a wallet is new money. Yet, unlike our fiat world where either present or future time is exchanged for it, MANNA shows up while one is busy doing other things.

I wrote a post the other day explaining how STEEM is the will be the new form of "work".

Essentially, MANNA and STEEM provide a powerful one-two punch when dealing with money. MANNA is freely distributed as a basic income to provide people with some resources. Hopefully, as this grows and the "network" effect takes place, more people will be able to dedicate their time creating on STEEM and adding value for the other, soon to be, millions of people holding STEEM. This will be the new "work" for hundreds of thousands of people.

And isn't that much better than people going to a dead end job everyday?

I want to thank @calumam for reminding me of this article that was written last summer that inspired this post.

Wow, I never really saw money in this light or thought of bitcoin this way. This article has given me a clearer picture of what money and bitcoin is all about and it tells almost all I need to know about them. Nice one from you @taskmaster4450

MANNA and STEEM provide a powerful one-two punch when dealing with money.

That's a line I'll be re-using. Powerful.

Great job reformatting and revitalizing the Noon article. It gives me the inspiration to consider what information can be restructured and shared with our audiences here on Steemit.

The age of abundance is slowly approaching and to anybody who has just started following @taskmaster4450 (or authors who share similar information), keep reading. Come back and see more, get them added to your GinaBOT. The information and change in perspective that it gives you is phenomenal.

You will create monumental drive for yourself when you realise there is a much higher purpose than yourself in this space. It's all of us together.

We are operating with a higher purpose. Things could change instantly if people would just go along. Sadly, too many bad habits, fears, and comfort zones to overcome.

That said, each day sees more people awakening. Last week Facebook offered up great assistance...this week it will be someone else.

Over time, people will string together what is going on....breaking the hold on money is a big step in the right direction.

The best way to help others is to help ourselves.

Let’s stop being modest as steem holders. We can’t HODL our earnings waiting for better days, we must move them around the market to make steem more visible.

Moooove that coin around.

It’s also possible to deconstruct the article, and rebuild it. Analyze the comment section, see what questions the article left unanswered, find out what the readers were left wanting to know.

Indeed the concept of Steem of proof of brain where you mine your mind for creativity and concepts and a universal basic income in Manna will surely disrupt the Bankster hold on currency.

It will start small but as more and more people are exposed to it and see that it is not a scam then the floodgates will open and the masses will adopt it.

...a universal basic income in Manna will surely disrupt the Bankster hold on currency.

Here is hoping that it does.

We need all of cryptocurrency to grow to accomplish that task. They have a firm grip on things and they spread a ton of FUD. It is only by exposing people to a different reality that we can see change. Giving people tokens might be the best way to accomplish this. As people see the use of them over time, they will not have the fear that is being spread.

That is the hope anyway.

After seeing you post about Manna for so long I signed up. I like the idea of universal income this one should stick around for a while.

Frequent posts from @taskmaster4450 about manna was the reason I signed up. I have received my first basic income from manna. Thanks to @taskmaster4450. I wouldn't have known about manna

Ummm
Manna seems interesting

I may consider getting into it

Just get it. You add value to it by being a wallet holder and you get more coin every week just for having a wallet.

Its a very tantalising topic, though what will decide its future, is whether any of the crypto gets centralised and what economical strata it will hold for a country if taken as currency
