An open letter to the whales and the dolphins

Dear Whales and dolphins,

I'm writing this letter because things need to change here and especially you whales, you do have the power to do it.

Let's be honest here, there is nothing special about steemit other than get paid while using it. But if most people come here and after few months make close to nothing they'll leave and worst than that this social network won't become the next big thing. Remember that most people don't invest and if investing is the only way to get the benefit this social network has to offer, the mass will never be part of this. And please don't give me the "good posts do make money" because that's just not true. Over 90% of the stuff you see on trending or on hot comes from you whales and dolphins. There are so many awesome posts here who don't even get a dollar and I'm not talking about my posts...

Whales and dolphins do you want to protect your investment and help Steemit become the new hot social network?

Stop being dumb greedy or delusional (most of you ain't good writers and ain't creative or fun either). What does that mean? Stop writing shitty posts just to make quick bucks. Start being smart greedy. Spend 90% of your time here upvoting posts, writing comments, giving suggestions and only write things once in a while and when you do, please do it right, you don't know how frustrating it is to see that most of the hot or trending posts are pretty far from being good posts. I know you don't care about me being frustrated but I'm sure so many other people feel the same and not only that but if most of the posts on trending are shitty posts that only hurts this social network because people who are not interested in blockchain or investing but come here because they heard of this place from a friend, they'll be like "what's this shit? Let's get out of here".

Do what I said and steemit will become the next big thing.

I believe in this project, I want this social network to succeed so I'm trying to do everything in my power to help. I'm telling everyone I know about it and not only that I'm actually teaching people how to use it and I'll be investing a lot more in the coming months and once I become a dolphin I'll do what I'm telling you to do dear whales and dolphins.

Sincerely

Michael

P.S. Upvote and write a comment if you agree. Whales and dolphins who disagree please tell me what I said wrong.

Well said--ehh written.

The problem is that most people in crypto want short-term gains and they won't care about the underlying product.

Yeah and it really sucks...I'll be holding everything for at least 5 years, probably 10...

Excellent post, I been trying to grow my account organically to see if it can be done and how long it would take. Let me tell you ... it takes extremely long and is a very slow process.

I believe that being able to be successful on here without monetary investment is one of the key factors on if Steemit will be a leading social media site of the future or not.

I agree with a lot of things in this post. Personal experience tells me that the tone of a message is just as important as the message itself though.

I have a hard time that whales and dolphins will feel inclined to listen what you're saying if you call them dumb and delusional. Because, let us be real here, chances are that they are not. Because otherwise, they wouldn't be in the positions they have now.

Most whales and dolphins they just got lucky to have entered the market at an early stage where making money in crypto was like taking a walk if all you did was hodl and some of them are probably just rich kids anyway, so I don't regret my wording 😜, I might be wrong but I call it the way I see it 😊...

It's cool.

This Ned guy who is apparently important in some way to this platform started to power down recently which many people have taken as a doomsday fore sign. Someone else made a post about how him powering down is a good thing for the platform as a whole, so things might just be going the right way.

Great post, bro - I have been feeling similar sentiments towards steem it and whales in here, for the last few months. And trust me, there are still left some genuine people, with valid opinions and constructive comments. This is what I think of steem system:

  1. upvoting, reward system is corrupt, and very protective towards those people who have many followers, lots Steem power, or just have friend Whales (who uptove their posts all the time). The "small guy", like you mentioned have no chance here....

  2. After being month and months in Steem it, I have seen some things here. From the community growth into nice and friendly environment. Then bear market came to crypto, and more negative sentiment came into play. Also some people just started dissapearing of the Steem it platform. This is life I suppose, but on the other hand the whole Steem it members number is growing, and the community should be more diverse and contribute greater things. Is it?

  3. I have 1066 follower at the moment, and the number always growing. But this is not the main indicator when it comes to my work. For example my account 3-4 months ago was worth 35-40 USD, now it is barely worth 8 USD or so. Then every article I release is being read by some people, but I am not getting that much reward as I used to (I am not even complaining about that). But to be honest to some point I am writing some things to myself too, just to "put it on blochckain, so I can come back later and check the history". What I mean: my follwers are growing, but rewards are getting smaller.

  4. Same articles, like you mentioned, not even special, or so informative are being in Top or Hot sections. I suspect that same people constantly upvote their article first, so they get to the top fast, and then snowball effect, then smaller fish sees it, and they some steem rewards being accumulated that way....
Specially some topic are being dominated by one ir few big players: for example Bitcoin Technical analysis... always same guy spams, 2-3 articles every day, his article constantly in Hot or Trending sections.

  5. Being crypto / blockchain believer, and liberitarian by heart, I believe in community, that power has to be distributed and decentralysed. Like you said, smaller guy, here has very little power or influence when it comes to articles, upvoting, or rewards. So how is that complies with the whole philosophy of Steem it? I "can feel" that Steem it changed, and changed towards worse....

(Overall I don't want to bring negativity, just reaction to your great article bro).

Its fact dear i am just new to hear i write blog for this platform but i did not get more upvote or comments on it i am very disappointed because I created unique content in almost 4 to 5 hours but nothing I get. @ansisltd I followed you
You can check my blog post on my page @scimyworld
Thanks.

Thanks dude, I follow you too.
Glad to see you here on Steem it, also welcome aboard dude! My overall experience in Steem is positive, as the community is very friendly, some good news can be found here, also some brilliant article creators are here too. Hope you will like it here.
(just the reward system currently has been not the same as in the early days...)

Thanks bro for your upvote and sorry bro I forget to mention you in your post @talkingwisehit

I agree with everything you said

You may be interested in a recent post of mine concerning counterfeit steem production, whose link is below, @talkingwiseshit. Without the design of a decentralized anonymous CAPCHA system to at least be able to distinguish between carbon based and bot based upvotes, not even the secret service could deal with such counterfeiting. 😎

It seems to me we must remember that the project is still in Beta and still requires some major tweeking before being production ready. Even in the more technical side there seems to be a scalability issue being kept at bay by feeding it RAM.

My take of reward distribution for your reading pleasure...
