RE: Content churning is the worst way to get popular on STEEM. HAVE YOU SEEN IT? I explain.

in #steem7 years ago

Content quality issues aside:

  • Plagiarism & content theft discredits the steemit platform and exposes it to potential for litigation
  • Derivative & transposed works add little or no additional value to the steemit content pool but draw from the steemit reward pool, creating smaller dividends for all authors
  • The torrents of submissions in the nature of those described above will quickly bury other submissions and drive them beyond the visibility of potential audience
  • All the above can combine to form discouraging factors for consideration when deciding on investment of time, effort, or any other resource in the crafting of content for submission on steemit, regardless of whether post rewards are the chief motivation or not
  • it's not just posting either, it's voting and voting cartels, in fact I recently posted an article stating why I nominated someone to receive rewards and asked readers to upvote that nomination - they upvoted my post instead, but voting is a separate matter...

There are users who dedicate a significant portion, or all, of their time on steemit to identifying, logging, and responding to plagiarism, comment spam, identity theft, and other forms of platform abuse. They are @steemcleaners (aka: I am not a bot!) with the aid of @beerbot (I am a bot & proud) & @cheetah (cyber-kitteh bot), @spamminator, @patrice needs special mention as she spends upwards or 14hrs/day dealing with these issues (you little champion you), and @dbdecoy (who I recently nominated for STSL rewards for their efforts, feel free to upvote my nomination here).

They spend their time helping others and trying to address these issues instead of blogging as they would prefer to.

I am very keen to see what your next post on this matter will contain.
