The Oracles: Steemian Empire (p1intro)

Entombed in a prison of shadows, in between the light, pulsing occasionally as if sensing the passing of decades and centuries, this is the stuff of adventures, myth and legend. Here lies a secret. A secret so stupendously huge and insidious that its revelation would unravel the very fabric of civilisation as we know it!

'Fairy Tales, Adventure stories and mythology aren't really that reliable as sources of information!', I hear the voices ring out ... and I agree with them wholeheartedly as I know more than most that they are but crumbs of intrigue, hints at a mystery long forgot.

No! Indeed, fairy tales and adventure stories cannot reveal this secret - but they lead 'those of knowledge' into the depths of humanities history, unravelling, peeling away layers, following the wispy threads of mystery to a place where darkness and light meet but never touch, to begin unravelling this magnificently malevolent secret.

*'And pray tell us, what is the shape of this secret so magnificent? and who ... or what is it that has hidden IT' *clamour the disembodied voices through channels of strange light and pipes of rare metal, revealing the growing hunger of the Steemian Empire for this journey, this unravelling, this malevolent wind of change to begin. As the beginnings of this hunger reach out - there is the briefest flicker in time and space - casting shadows within the depths that slink, slide and slither out to these faint tendrils of hunger - and their greedy source - and they can barely hold back their glee ! And the shadows become restless, gently nudging against the barriers that hold them. And far far far away but no distance at all, the light flickers ever so briefly *.... Did you notice it?
